Something Next to Gemini

I was riding Gemini red train yesterday. Before we started to up the lift hill, I noticed what looked like a delievery of some kind. The items were coiled up in a circle and wrapped in white wrap. I dont know what was in the others, but one them looked to have a chain wrapped up. Any ideas what this for?

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker

I would put a guess in as one of the existing coasters will be getting a new chain.

Did it look like it could be over 1000 feet long? 500 ft coaster yeah!!!

I heard from my Brother's sister's aunt who is married to my uncle that once saw a snake in Lake Erie and then got some lemon chill at a lemon chill stand, then fed popcorn to a sea gull that got in a fight with a bay gull, that is Micheal Jackson body and the chain is so they can throw him in Sandusky bay and not have all of his plastic make him float out of the green MF train. All this while he was at Band Camp.

Those are coils of lift chain. I park in that lot every visit so I've gotten more than just a glance at them. They wouldn't be for replacement on an existing ride, because they wouldn't be stored there, they'd go into the maintenance shop. Even more so, they came in separate shipments. The first time I spotted them there were 2 of them, and now there could be up to 10.

Trivia: Do you know where you can find one of the nation's leading suppliers of engineered chain, of the type used in amusement rides? :)

^^And they wouldn't be for a new ride considering nothing has been built yet. It would seem a tad pointless to get chain for something that HASN'T been built yet. So thus it's for an existing coaster.

They would obliviously come in shipping containers (to you know, ship them from a great distance) and they don't HAVE to be put into the maintenance shop for storage. They can place it where ever they feel until it's needed.

There's no need to get yer hopes up.

Sandusky, Ohio!

TTD 120 is right. I would highly doubt the chain for a new coaster/ride would be the first thing to show up. And news flash: spare chain would not be kept in the already packed to the gills Maintenance shop. Large items like that are fine outside wherever the park can find space, i.e. Mean Streaks infield, outback of Planning & Design, Gemini's infield, etc.

Maybe, they are for gemini. It would make sense to leave it there. And gemini would need a lot of chain. I would like to know how many coasters are being built and still using chains anyways. I will be there today so I will look. I like to park right next to Gemini too.

2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3

@ttd120, That doesn't hold a lot of water. Why would track show up in previous builds if the supports were not put up yet?

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Sandusky, Ohio!

More specifically, Tsubaki, Inc., (Previously US Tsubaki) in Sandusky, OH on W. Monroe and Edgewater Drive.

I always like stories that involve coaster parts.....:)

Congratulations to 99er and Tambo! :)

Interesting that CP would keep sections in stock (although, they may have a planned replacement coming up and are just waiting to do it) when the company that makes chain has most stuff in stock. According to their price list anyway.

Because they're shipped in a general order as to how they're laid out and assembled. Generally the track shows up along with supports as they are setting footers for the supports. They can start assembling track/support sections after a certain amount of footer are done while others are still being set. It's all set to how the erection company and building engineer plans it. Moving parts like trains and chain are installed within months before opening because they don't want to expose them to the elements for a long time (like nearly a year;)) before they test the ride.

It's more common sense than anything.

I thought Home Depot was the suplier of the chains, especially since most Wal-marts stopped carrying and cutting chain.

The shipment in question is in fact lift chain. One of the white packages were unwrapped. They are sitting right underneath gemini's lift today. No change on Millie Island. The captain of the paddlewheel claims that the trees were knocked down because of a bug infestation that were eating them. He said that one tree fell by itself and they took the rest down to avoid having a tree fall onto Milllie. I personally do not believe the story. You can take it or leave it.

I'll believe Al Gore invented the internet before I take a word from the Paddlewheel Excursions captains as truth.
