I live in the Northwest and have a lot of family in Lorain (between Sandusky and Cleveland) and I am going over there next month for my cousin's wedding. Of course what is a trip across the country without going to the Point for world-class thrills! We are going to be there the week of August 20-25. Bad timing I know because the hours are only 10-8 but I was wondering which day would be the best to go on. It has been 7 years since I've been to CP so I also need some advice for just about anything you could think of. Any posts would be appreciated. Thanks!
Actually, that's a great week to go. There's a reason the operating hours are shorter :) Out of Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, pick the day with the best weather.

The crowds start dying down at the end of August (except for a predictable resurgence on Labor Day weekend, being the traditional last blast of summer), so you'll have a good day no matter what day you pick, even with the short hours. We're actually planning to send our whole company up about that time, assuming this month goes well for us. The timing of the trip is very deliberate; schools are back in and the day crowds become much lighter, so we have a good chance to hit the entire park. Like Gemini said, just pick the day that isn't raining :)
Good week to go. Most schools are starting back up and most summer vacations are over by then.
They are right, go with the weather but the later you wait the more schools have started so you might want to shoot for Thursday. I hope to be there a lot that week.
Im Goin The SAme Exact Days!
Cool. I know it will be relatively slow during that week but I just wanted to make sure. And oh yeah, i know Jeff has a ride stradegy to get everything in and has some really good ideas but I was wondering if anyone else has some good ride stradegies that you use when you visit the point.
I need some help to. Im planning on going there next summer, and the closest I've ever been to there is in my dreams.I could really use some help, when to go, what to do, ride strategies, How to get the most out of my day basicly.
I would suggest taking advantage of the evening passes and staying in the park from and hour before opening time to say noon, then coming back after 6 pm till close. We went on one of the big summer weekends, and the park STILL emptied out and we got to go on all the good coasters at least once, and MF 5 times. And avoid TTR. Just ride the Force after 6 pm.
