I honestly don't think any of the news reports are accurate yet. My guess is that if it hit a tree branch, it did so because the front bogie derailed.

It could also be possible that a branch came loose and got onto the track. Either way, with the TG incident and this, Six Flags safety track record is terrible. It's unlikely I'll visit any of their parks anytime in the near future.

In one of the pictures I saw, it was a large tree trunk that fell on the track, not just a branch. That the train hit that and only the front boge came off I think shows how safe and over built these Arrow rides really are.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
And there was a death at a park in Spain yesterday:

Yesterday was a bad news day for the amusement park industry.

Yea Pete - I saw another picture with the tree trunk literally laying on top of the track. It was no branch! :)

Yesterday was pretty bad for the industry, and sounds a lot like July 19 last year with the New Texas Giant and Shoot the Rapids accidents. I have read a couple reports about the Ninja incident and all of them were inconclusive and contradicted each other. In a couple days we should get the whole story.
