I don't know if the previous posts about cell phones being the cause of this were in jest, but I don't think it would have mattered. I think the only difference would have been one of his idiot friends would have recorded it and uploaded it to Instagram.

Speaking as a school employee I don't think his lack of a phone for entertainment was the issue. Some boys that age just think the dumbest things are funny and like to see others suffer for a laugh. Some girls too. I don't know why they find cruelty so enjoyable.
Tween and teen boys tend to rile each other up. At Scout Camp this week and we already had one empty the soap dispenser, pee in it then put all back together. I remember in grade school putting ketchup packets on the stairs. Boys just do dumb things.
I’ll just leave this here:

Anyone here seen HotOnes on youtube? Doesn't really matter but I've purchased their Last Dab sauce and........good lord. If any of these sauces let alone an innocent Sriracha made it into you're eyes.
That's bad news and is extremely dangerous. Doesn't seem like it was a potent hot sauce on that level. However it shouldn't be a misdemeanor. Would rather get hit in the face with a bird than hot sauce in the eyes.
Should be a Felony.

Interesting you should mention this. This morning at 9:15am on Millenium Force a woman was struck by a bird. At the unload station a boy was frantically telling the ride-ops that the bird was on the floor of their car. They moved the train up to load area where those ride-ops removed a deceased red-wing blackbird. The woman had been hit in the torso area, wasn't hurt at all, went about her day with no demands to be made whole. The bird on the other hand..........

I hardly think a hot sauce packet to the face is worth a felony considering all the things having a felony on your record potentially prohibits you from doing after you have served your time. It was a dumb prank that caused minor injuries so a misdemeanor seems appropriate. Couple nights in DH, probation and banned from the park until 21 will make him pause next time he thinks of tossing a condiment at someone. Nobody's life was ruined by the incident so there's no reason to ruin his. Unless one of the riders was permanently blinded I don't see the need for a felony charge. It would be different if he was throwing rocks at them that would show the intent to harm but a sauce packet is teenage poor judgement and stupidity.
