Soak City Incident

Magnum-Man's avatar

Today at around 5:30 I was walking back to camper village from the magnum gate and noticed that outside the entrance to soak city sat about 3 fire trucks and an ambulance all with their lights flashing. Anybody know what happened?

Probably a fire alarm. Can't think of too many other reasons why 3 firetrucks would need to show up.

Especially with a place filled with water...

SV ruins all other rides.

Was leaving the park and saw a couple ambulances and firetrucks headed up the causeway. I had left the Soak City lot a few minutes before and didn't see any signs of fire. Sometimes firetrucks are the first responders though so I don't know if them being there necessarily indicates a fire. There was definitely something going on though.

We were headed to the park about 5:45 and the police had the Causeway and First St. blocked. An ambulance, with light flashing and sirens blaring, was coming down the causeway and turned onto First Street.

We noticed a whole lot of fire trucks and ambulances heading towards the park on the causeway from our house.

Over at the fuel docks at Cedar Point someone had a boat taking on water a lot of Coast Guard and Tow boats and fire department here don't know if that is anything related

Just speculating here but if it was at Soak City it could be something chlorine related.

If it was just one fire truck I would say first responder or extra manpower for CPR or lifting a very heavy guest but multiple trucks would mean something else.

That's kinda what I was going with since the OP said it was 3 firetrucks and an ambulance. Unless things have changed since I worked at the park, Cedar Point only had one firetruck so the others would have been backup from Sandusky. If it was something requiring medical attention, the in-park medics would have handled it and if transport was needed they would have used Cedar Point's ambulance. Multiple firetrucks would have been for fire I would assume, unless some type of rigged rescue was needed.

It certainly could be chlorine related, but whatever it was, the FD didn't stay very long. Saw them drive in and then drive out from the Marina pool.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Whatever it was, Prayers go out to the Victim(s) and their families. I hope that everyone is ok!!

Were there two separate incidents? The first post says the fire trucks were at Soak City but following posts say there were fire trucks at the marina.

First of all, we don't even know if there were victims. Second of all, I thought we learned with Orlando that thoughts and prayers are just as insulting as doing nothing.

From across the Lake, it looked like the trucks were near BS turn around.

Why, please, is this even a topic?
So the fire trucks made a run. People call 911 for all kinds of reasons and they make runs. Responding is what they do. And I find needing to know why (and calling it an "incident") rather bizarre.

I hope none of you concerned citizens ever have to pay a visit to my neighborhood. If you wring your hands over every fire truck that goes by or siren you hear you'll be up all night with thoughts and prayers!

PyroKinesis09 with all due respect, there (could) be, and if there are, we NEED to Pray for them. Thoughts and Prayers are never insulting. My family and I are still Praying for the people who were effected by the flooding in West Virginia and the Wild Fires in California.

I got stung by a bee once in a theme park and the stinger wouldn't come out. A call to first aid brought an ambulance and fire truck out of protocol. So I never overreact when I see a response like that unless there is an obvious situation that is going on.

And yes - I believe the "thoughts and prayers" like can be insulting. It's a nice sentiment and all, but it generally lacks any actual action or help. I have a huge passion for shelter animals and getting them in homes. Do I think and pray for them? No. I volunteer weekly at a shelter and help get them adopted into good homes.

I hope you and your family wrote those Thoughts and Prayers down on a nice card to include in the many boxes of clothing and non-perishables you sent to West Virginia and California.
And if not I'm Thinking that you should and Praying that you do.

Thoughts, and prayers are an empty sentiment. Get off your butt, and at the very minimum send a check. Or do nothing. Thoughts, and prayers don't pay medical bills. Or put food on the table when every penny has gone to paying medical expenses. Do something. Anything. We are not saying that you shouldn't pray for people effected by tragedy. What we are saying is that, as with all things religious, it is personal, should be kept private, and between you, and whichever deity you have chosen to worship. But before you go pray, physically do something that will help. That way when you are done, you can also pray for the safety of the postal employees, railroaders, truck drivers, etc., that will all be handling any packages/envelopes intended for those afflicted by tragedy.
