Soak City

Sorry if this has been posted before. How do you feel about Soak City? I personaly think that if it doesn't get a new attraction in the near future it will start going down hill. In fact, it all ready is. I think if they get some paint some Brooms and an attraction/theming it will be much better.

First off, welcome to Pointbuzz. Secondly, it might behoove you to read some of the threads on here and do some research before posting a lot of new threads. I'm sure you're excited to get discussing, but a lot of people on here will give you a very hard time for your plethora of recent posts.

As far as Soak City goes, I think the parking lot needs to go away. There needs to be way more landscaping and trees in the "resort" section of the park.

hahahah.. thanks for making me laugh asshat

I haven't been to Soak City in years, but it looks really fun. They look like they got some great water slides over there.

I think Soak City is pretty good as is. Updates are always nice though. They need to smooth out the bottom of the lazy river for those that like to walk thru with small children.

Altohugh I have yet to go to Soak City, I get a pretty decent view of it every time I ride Magnum. It looks like it needs some trees more then anything else. The whole thing seems to be an oasis of concrete.

I may actually go to soak city for the first time ever next year. We got the platinum passes for next year and my son loves water parks.

Some people will say that that's true about Cedar Point in general... ;)

Soak City is a lame excuse for a water park. I am sorry. There are a couple of neat things inside like the Zoom Flume and the Regegade River but other then that it is overcrowded with super long lines for half decent water slides. I would pick Michigan's Adventure, or pay more to go to Kalahari which in my opinion was better than Soak City before they decided to expand anyday. Cedar Point needs to decide what to do with it because it does have potential with some changes. Either get rid of it all together or fix it appropriately. Right now it runs disfunctionally. There is much more I could say about it but that is enough for now.

So over all is Michigan's Adventure better than Soak City?

So many people think Soak City is hurting. In fact, that couldn’t be more from the truth. The park still does record attendance every summer. I agree they could use some more slides or new paint around the park, but that is coming from a water park junkie. The general public that comes to Soak City while visiting Cedar Point probably has no complaints. Other then your run of the mill complaints such as long lines, expensive food, etc. Complaints that you will find about any park.

For the most part, it is a nice large water park for the area that it is in. We all know that Cedar Point in general could use more trees but the large midways at Soak City is a plus on a busy day. Anyone that has been there on a 9,000+ day will agree that more concrete is better. There is a lot of shade at the park. All that land under the slides on East provides an ample amount of space to hide from the sun.

I know I am one of the only ones that looks at it from this point of view. Most people on here jump on the bandwagon that Soak City is “the worst water park ever”. If you have that opinion, then you have not visited many water parks in the county. But in general, sure new slides could be added, paint some slides, add some landscaping: but is that going to attract enough of the general public to make a difference? Keep in mind that Soak City is not exactly hurting for attendance. They do fine now for there lack of advertising outside of the resorts.

Bottom line, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

Pointperson, do a search for Soak City and you will find plenty to read on what people think about Soak City, including me.

I am trying to say that the waterpark attached to Michigan's Adventure is better then Soak City.

Anyone think Soak City's days are numbered now that Geauga Lake is a waterpark-only attraction now? Could GL eventually adopt the "Soak City" brand allowing Cedar Point's waterpark to disappear in favor of more space for ride expansion? Just wondering. Personally,I think they should either adopt a nationwide branding name for their waterparks or individually name each unique park. Three of this name and four of that name plus "Oceans of Fun" just doesn't seem to make sense.

^I don't think Geauga Lakes waterpark will last more than a few seasons, but that is just my opinion.

We've gone through this. Soak City is a water park for all the resort guests at CP, people just don't come to CP just to go to Soak City.

I think Soak City is a great waterpark. I'm not just saying this because I was a lifeguard there for three summers, but because I've been to plenty of other waterparks and can see the differences.

None of the waterparks in Arizona come close to Soak City (Surprising for a state of 6 mil.), and you would be hard-pressed to find a park down here with even one lazy river, nevermind two of them. Likewise when I lived in Rhode Island and Massachusetts there were no waterparks of Soak City's size or caliber. SF New England came close, but wasn't as well maintained.

Soak City has alot to offer between five slide attractions, four kids areas (if you include the lily pads/adventure cove), the Zoom Flume, the wave pool, the two lazy rivers, and Bubbles swim up bar. The lines can be intense some days, but there are attractions like the Wave Pool and lazy rivers that are large enough that they do not require a line except of the busiest of days.

That being said, Soak City isn't perfect and there is room for improvement. With the exception of Splash Zone, the kids areas are lame and can stand to be replaced with better-themed and more exciting area. Splash Zone can use some safety mats around the area, and as someone said the bottom of renegade river could be smoothed out. The music by all means should be replaced, and that cd with "who put the bop in the bop she bop she bop" should be put to rest. Soak City could also use a touch-up with theming, maybe some new signs or decorations to break up the concrete feel.

Back to the topic, I do not feel Soak City is going down hill. It just needs a little bit of a refresher to make it more pleasant on the eyes and ears. In my opinion, Soak City stands out as an attraction and while many of its guests are from the resorts and camper village, it is not simply an extension of these areas like a motel pool would be.

Soak City is the largest OUTDOOR waterpark in the Sandusky area, providing spectacular views of Lake Erie and the fresh air you wouldn't get in an indoor park. While it is not Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, it's definitely a viable and worthwhile attraction. It just needs some refreshing changes so that more people can see that.

Soak City is the perfect compliment to a hot summer day at Cedar Point. I basically go there solely to ride the Renegade River (on average 4-5 times) which is great because its relaxing (I have taken naps on the thing, the key to that one is getting "stuck" in the wave section near the machine on the outside of the river where the current isn't strong and the machine drawing in water is nearly canceling out the forward motion made by the waves.

If Im going to a water park to ride slides, no park in Ohio really is a good option, if you want to ride slides you need to go to Wisconsin (Noah's Ark,) Virgina (Water Country USA,) Florida (All three Orlando parks) or Texas (Schlitterbahn.)

SC should get one of those funnel rides. They are the best...

With the Platinum pass for 08, I'm sure more people will venture into Soak City, myself included.
