Sneak Peek Contest Submissions

Google "BBW" and see what comes up.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

That is some nice handwriting if I might say ! lol

And that's why I ALWAYS abbreviate it that way.
And I think he means what's wrong with BBW? No Google required.

i took too long to come up with my entry so i missed the window (i would have had to overnight my letter) but i think i managed to cram in more than a few references

Nestled just downstream of the picturesque falls on Snake River, where it meets Cedar Creek, but before it flows into the majestic Thunder Canyon (if you listen closely you might hear the distinctive whooshing of the mythical skyhawk taking off from its nest- it sounds strangely enough like compressed steam if you've never heard it) lies one of those "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" towns on the frontier you really don't want to miss.

But we're not the sleepy town everyone expects us to be- our live music and fine dining establishments draw more tourists than you'd care to count, and the mine opening upstream on Cedar Creek promises to draw more and more settlers to our growing city.

Automobiles are not an uncommon sight near the town hall, and out near the old fort a professor (a professor of what we're not quite sure) has been working on a machine he claims will change the world- but I'm not sure anything with the word "fling" in the name will really work as well as he hopes...

Yes sir, we're more than some run-of-the-mill turn-of-the-century town on the edge of the prairie (ignore that feeling you've got that the century has been trying to turn for nearly 50 years)- just be sure to stay on the right side of the tracks because there's been a lot of strange noises and activity coming from the other side that have every sheriff & deputy in the county on edge

One thing sticks out to me about this contest... They are emphasizing that those chosen for the preview are free to share what they see with whoever they want. To me this screams TROLLING OPPORTUNITY! How great would it be if they pulled a Bat/Banshee deal and completely gave false info? Then watch it spread like wildfire...

ROUNDABOUND.

nah.
I still think that the window of opportunity for the winners is going to be very small.

If I should get to go I'm not going to say anything anyway, so don't ask me... :)

"Public Announcement date" in some circles means not just the date, but the time of the announcement. The viewing could be held literally 20 minutes before the hootenanny, the same way it happens at Winter Chill Out. We walk out of there with some piece of special knowledge, but it's on the local news before we get to the parking lot.

Adding on to Shane's thoughts, if the special preview is done more than a few hours before the hootenanny.

The rules don't say they will show the winners anything about RMCMS, just that you will get to see a digital animation of the new attraction for FrontierTown in 2018. No details or information, just an animation.

Since there has been lots of speculation about doing a larger make-over of that area as part of RMCMS, the animation could be of just about anything.

Even if it is RMCMS, do we jump to conclusions and assume it would include a POV. Enough of the headers and track have been installed that most of the layout is already reflected in the NoLimits recreation. Even then, how many times has a computer-generated POV not accurately reflected how a ride felt.

I'm sure the lift hill and final track bits leave some surprises, but overall I think this contest could leave some feeling anticiPointment.

Very well thought out by both you and Shane. With all of the (lack of) pomp and circumstance surrounding the project(s), your idea would fall right in line with them. I know some have not liked TC's brand of "charm" in interviews about the project(s), but I have loved every minute of them!

This has been SO much better than "What's in the Shed."

So, first of all, I am not the grammar police...just MY opinion.

Looking through some of the submissions that are sooo long.

Technically, they are written as sentences....Logically however, I do think that a 'sentence' that has 53 or 74 words is more of a paragraph that a sentence... -come on, that was stretching the sentence limit.

I thought the 4 sentence limit was so they could be reviewed and judged quickly, since they are on a time-frame to select the 50 lucky ones.

I like Frontier Town.
They got some new ride.
Everyone should go.
Do I win?

LOL! Not picking on you, but did you actually count someone's sentence to come up with the "53 or 74?" I would find that hilarious. Not in bad way.

^^ ...Yes, I truly did count a few of the longer 'sentences'. That's just the curious nitpicker in me.

This contest is more of a challenge than what it seems. One has to promote FT as the best place to live and keep it to only four sentences? (I'm not sure if I could describe the virtues of my own house in four sentences.) They asked entrants to be creative with their essays, and I'd invite those who didn't enter to sit down and give it a try just to see how tough it is. And remember the desired outcome, as with all contests, is to win.

I agree the object of the four sentence rule is to weed out a big batch at once, and to keep judging time to a minimum. But if they want real creativity and something they can use then they're gonna have to do some reading. I'd say pitching something to file 13 because of TL/DR isn't their goal either.

Contests like this are so subjective. Example: For years I've entered a couple of specific competitions at the Ohio State Fair. I'm known for being good at what I do and seldom do I come home without a blue ribbon. This year? To my shock and dismay, no. One entry was judged third place out of three, and the other placed fourth out of five. I don't get it, but I'm ok with it. It's always just one person's opinion.

And who knows what will impress the CP team? Nice long sentences that they can pull bytes from? Or short, clear, and concise? Is cute the winner? Or will accuracy prevail? Will the winners all be young? Or will they pick an old geezer like me?

I'd be interested to know how many submissions they received. The website links to the contest and those of us who are on boards like this found out, but have they done much to advertise the contest to regular park goers? Maybe they only got 49 letters.

So we'll see. I look at my email every day and so far nothing.
And like I said, good luck to all who tried their best. I hope the ones to whom this means the most are rewarded.

That's a good theory, except:

WRMC 1870 ad:

Fifty lucky listeners will be chosen to come to the park just days before the public announcement and see for themselves what's been hiding on the other side of the tracks.

This makes me think it will be on Saturday or Sunday before the announcement date.

I thought someone had mentioned a "just days" bit, but I limited my search to the official written rules, not the ad.

After spending way too much time with implementing requirements in IT, I could argue the sentence structure leaves something to be desired, and could be construed as the winners will be chosen just days before the public announcement, about 12 days to be precise.

Would they really give away 100 tickets that are only valid on a typically busy Saturday during the summer? Since the first round of winners are to be contacted by this Friday, we should know soon enough.

I hope it's not Saturday or Sunday. I work. It would be better for me if it actually was the same day.

That seems preferable to having contest winners come in on a weekday, which would be a non-starter for a lot of people.

I assume it will be on the weekend as well. It makes the most sense. I'm definitely in the minority with the swing shift I work.

Seems a waste vwhoward. You have to be in the top 20 at least and it seems like this announcement will likely be on Sunday I'm guessing.

Boneville gazette,

As a man of the law, I am happy protecting the good people of frontier town. Whether it is cooling down for a spell at Snake River falls, or an exciting chase on Cedar Creek Mine Ride, frontier town has so much to do. The rides of frontier town find me overjoyed, which is why I implore you to let me witness the particulars on this latest spectacle. 10 years back I let Maverick get the drop on me and I cannot let it happen again with this new threat.
