My hypothesis is, as said earlier, water levels were low. SRF uses the water to slow itself down so I guess the lower water level did not allow the boat to slow down enough before the turn and for lack of a better phrase "threw itself out of the channel." I have not ridden SRF but I have White Water Landing at Dorney Park. It is a twin ride and it is basically crawling when it gets to that point in the ride so that thing had to be carrying a lot of speed to hop that wall. Another thought... Maybe the lack of weight on the front cause the boat to kinda skim the water and carried speed all the way to its "dechannelment"

I believe Thunder Canyon is one of very few Intamin rapids rides which has NOT, to the best of my knowledge, had a boat capsize.
It may also be the most trouble-free of all the Intamin rides at Cedar Point.

Jr Gemini, the first Intamin coaster. Even 35 years ago Intamin was building rides that were restrictive to guests of exceptional size. ;)

Snake was an accident that did not involve maint. personnel in any way. Str as we know was an accident with no details investigation pending. Skyhawk was a malfunction for what we understand...
Cp maint. is a good group of people that put in a lot of hours to keep rides safe to keep the park at the top of the curve in regards to the safety streak. Not one fatality in the park due to rides or attractions. That streak earns my respect and my thanks, so no I don't question the maint. dept.
