Smoothing Out of Land

I didn't feel that this was much of anything, but after hearing the rummor at Screamscape I thought it might be important. Wed and Thur I was at the park and notice bulldozers over by the third hill on Magnum (near the helix) they were smoothing out land on the beach from where I could see started over by Breakers and followed Magnum to the helix. Could this be part of the Boardwalk project?

First off, if I'm correct on assuming that you mean Magnum's TURNAROUND. This is far away from where the board walk would be. The board walk is rumored to be in the front of the park, where Disaster Transport is.
I also seen that. They did the same thing over by Sandcastle when they started storing Millennium Force track in the boneyard.

They could have a coaster run from over by Ocean Motion and run it down there. Maybey the boardwalk will extend that far down.

It's called erosion, and I'm sure it's something they constanly deal with on the shore.

I was just gonna say...How can they possibly make the peninsula any flatter than it already is? 8-) Put it this way...Don't count on Cedar Point putting in a terrain coaster anytime soon. :) --Dave Althoff, Jr.
I don't think they would have a coaster run right next to the beach or on it past Breakers. That would totally ruin the beach you can get to from breakers, and the view of the lake from Breakers.
No coaster, no land "smoothing." They where clearing land. No not for a coaster. They where doing something to the boardwalk (the walkway by the beach's name was changed this season) probably clearing brush blocking the path by the Magnum or repairing cement. They also smooth out the beach everyday.

Jeff,
Thank you for telling these people that. Anytime any piece of dirt moves at the park, it doesn't automatically mean a new coaster.
Well, like I said before. I think there will be a coaster over there in the next ten yrs. But thats what I think.
They are not going to run a coaster down the beach to this location and cover up Breakers hotel. I'm sure it's nothing...just grading the land.

That area of the peninsula is expressly reserved for resort/ soak city expansion or lack thereof to maintain atmosphere. You'll never see another coaster proximal to the resorts for obvious reasons.

I was there all last week. The reasons for the equipment on the beach were twofold:

-To fix erosion problems as Jeff has already stated, and also
-To address the continual sediment/debris that washes up onto the shoreline which creates an unsightly black, scummy mess. This is certainly unattractive and not conducive to swimming in "beautiful" lake Erie.
