Smoke effects

Do they still have the smoke effects on Dragster?
I don't think they do have smoke effects on the Dragster.
Last time I was there (mid July) they did...
I was there mid-July and they did, but from what I remember of it, it came kinda late, and there wasn't very much smoke... I don't know I could be wrong, I didn't pay much attention.
Top Thrill Dragster does have the Smoke Effects on the ride. You Kinda cant miss it. This effect will never be gone (we talked about it in a Supervisors meeting) because it adds an effect like the real Top Fuel Dragsters do.
I have been to CP five times since Dragster has been there, and none of those times the smoke was on. The last time i went was at the end of June.
I was there last week and saw it on...not really impressive at all, it looked more like someone's breath in the cold air rather than an effect like a real Top Fuel Dragster...

...I can see how anyone might kinda miss it.

Ok, There are no smoke affects on TTD. You are mistaking it for the spray of water that shoots out from the launch wheel as it launches. Smoke affects were supposed to work as the train is standing. I been to CP in june for a week and in august, The smoke affects were off all of those times. As far as I know, The smoke affects haven't been turned on this season at all.

I was there last week and they still spray the water mist... I think that's what your talking about.

The spray of water is the “cooling water” lying in the tray that the cable is in. The cable gets hot and needs to be cooled to keep it from getting too hot. Actually, if it gets too hot it could stretch. This was not from the actual design of the coaster; it was something that was added on to make operation smoother. If you were there opening day last year, you did not see the water spray. That came after the friction of the cable dragging in the tray made it a necessity.

There is a smoke machine (or fog machine like in nightclubs) there that is supposed to make the effects of the smoke from a spinning tire or burn out at the start of a top fuel dragster run. I have been there a few times and saw it sitting there. Although the effects of the fogger are not that great in the wide-open like it is there. So that is why you might miss it, but it has been there every time I was there!

And you think that matters to me, Why?

I was at Cedar Point opening day and I have been to Cedar Point 20 times this year. On opening day they had the fog and you could tell because it would spray up. Now I go there and its not there so maybe they took it out.

I haven't seen the smoke machine in use since last year.

The smoke effects were certainly not working today.

Nope, have not seen any smoke this year. I think the majority of people who claim to our confusing it with water. But of course they could have thrown it on through-out the year for kicks and giggles.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Quite frankly, without the theming on the back :(, there is no real reason to use the smoke effects. But the water spray could be confused for the smoke in a round-about sort of way.
I stopped counting my trips this year at 10 and it did not function one of those days. 3/4 of last season it did not also. I think the water mist is being mistaken for it.

I agree. Cedar Point has more than let me down in the ride theming department. When this ride opened I was pretty impressed with the efforts they made to give this coaster a real theme. Now it seems as though its only a matter of time before the lights stop working and they get rid of the sound effects.

I was thinking the same raptorgrl! It's not even a Dragster anymore! It is TTS - Top Thrill Sled !!!

After going to the point 4 times this year and 3 times last year the smoke effect was never used. Even in May 2003 when the ride wasn't even open a month the tires have been removed and the smoke was off.

I remember the tires being open sometime in September of last year. I'm not sure about the smoke effects, but I remember the tires and stuff.
