Smell

I went on WT, I think it was the 6th, the one day it was open between all the days it was closed. And when I got on it and we launched, this smell of almost burning rubber was just following the train up and down the towers, I think it was that LIM's heating up the metal so much or somthing that it gave off that smell. So my question is for the people that have ridden it, Did you have this smell when you rode it?

There was a funny smell when I rode May 21 and 22. Kind of like a burning electrical smell more than burning rubber I'd say. WT ran prettty much flawlessley both of those days though so I don't think it was abnormal.

I was told there were some electrical problems, so what your saying makes sense. I was there last Sunday and the ride was open, when I returned Thursday it was closed until 2pm or so after being down since Monday, then it was closed all day again yesterday. Seems to me to be a rather serious problem(s).

I wonder if they used the downtime to make the adjustments to the track Thursday (welding), then after it opened Thursday the "electircal" problem re-appeared. I really have no idea, but it seems to me now that the problems were much more than just the track work that was being done on Thursday.

Welcome to New York City

Yes we all know that and I was just talking about the smell. I was just asking if it was normal or sence it had not been running for a long time on that thurs, if that was what made that smell

I've noticed that smell since the end of May, but it was not there in the begining. I always smelled it right at the end of the straightaway before the forward tower. When I was there Monday the 10th, they had that last LIM removed from the track. It was definately a burning electrical smell.

V2 here at SFMW makes that smell too, so I'm pretty sure it's not serious.
Mmmmm, love the smell of electricity; can't wait to ride it tomorrow :)

Are we talking like electric train smell? I believe that's ozone, isn't it?

Yes, arcing-produced ozone, but no ozone today :( But it's not like the ride is in dire need of it; my expectations were set by riding Superman at WOA, and this ride exceeded my expectations greatly :)
