Smashed Souvenir Pennies

I have more doubles at home. When I first started collecting and made my first full sweep of Cedar Point, I made 2 of everything. There were approximately 36 unique pennies at the time. I haven't done that since. As time goes on, those may become better trade capital. Either that, or eBay :-)

I guess I should have said, I use pennies made from 1957-1981. If I come across a wheatback or older, that's going into the collection. :-)

the post-82s' seem to have a better 'impression'. checked the metal hardness info and Zinc is softer than Copper so that would explain the better 'impression'. But in either case, starting with shiny gives better visuals. So I'll be using only 'shiny' pennies of both varieties.

You won't be able to stroll across the lands as part of the Aristocracy with that inferior currency. We wouldn't be caught dead with pennies made after 1982, as we accept only the finest of currency. It's a pity, you had such promise, but only the finest will suffice.

I say for real fun we should try a 1943 penny.

The past three days/evenings at CP,I found 12 machines. Making 2 of each,I got 72. Still have to do the 'manual' machine at MF lockers,get that tomorrow.

The slower and more steady your turn the handle, the better it should turn out. if you try to do it quick or start and stop, it won't turn out as well.

I've learned a lot about smashed pennies in this thread. Hopefully I can make my collection better now.
