Small hang-up on Raptor today...

The same thing happened again today? Hmph, this is not a good start for Cedar Point. :)

We (controls) can not dispatch another train out of the station until the "lift occupied" light on the control board stops flashing red, and that lift train clears the bottom of the 1st hill (Raptor ready) Now, I don't know if they means you CAN'T do it, I know it means we SHOULDN'T do it. Technically once the 1st train cleared the lift, there would have been enough time that the system would be ready for the 2nd train. Can a train overshoot the station? The actual stopping of the train is automatically done (controls and dispatch "make" it happen, but technically the train stops on it's own) But I imagine a malfunction can allow an overshoot, we've all heard of these things before. There is NO way however this incident could have been a crew error. If you've ever worked a ride crew there is just too much "watching" that goes on from each crew member to insure all is ok before ANYTHING happens, including dispatching a train. Besides the actual controls and the control person, the ride crews are watching the trains all day. The sound of a train on the lift hill (and the screams that follow once train drops ;)) is loud, not like no one would hear there was still a train on the lift or the fact that no one saw the train clear the lift. No way would the person on controls, dispatch or unload 3 have given the clear for that 2nd train. Seeing from the pics where that 2nd train would lead me to believe it stopped as soon as it hit the lift indicating something mechanical.
Of course I am only a Raptor freak and Raptor ride op, so these are just guesses.
Why something cool like this never happens when I'm on the ride I'll never know!!! ;)

When train one was dispatched and on the lift, something had gone wrong with a proxy and signaled that the train returning to the station was still in the ride area so that when the train on the lift got to the top it stopped and the lift shut down.

What puzzles me about this situation is the train on the lift isn't even near the 'park' position. There's a proxy just before the crown that stops the train for a block violation.

You're only looking at about 25 seconds from clear to when it hits that point, so something must have triggered a lift stop. I still don't see how a train could be dispatched so soon, without some crazy stuff going on with both station stop proxies. That's just me though, and since I wasn't there, I'm left with just speculating why it happened.

It wouldn't be hard to program the controls to not allow a dispatch when the lift is occupied.

if ( liftoccupied ) {
no_dispatch();
}

Heh.

Anyway, so I doubt it could have been the Crew that did that. It must have been a bug or error in the sensors.

As soon as a train is dispatched , doesent the railing go up on the platform? If so it would be almost imposable for a train to glide through the station.
This is probably unlikley but could the train have just come off the chain and landed in the anti-rollback?

The railing is connected to the rising platform. The platform stays down until the next train enters the station (so peoles feet dont hit).

I agree, I don't know how a train could have been loaded and dispatched so fast. Do we even know if the train was full or empty? Now I do believe that Batman's lift hill is smaller than Raptor's so train 1 on Raptor had a longer distance to travel before it stopped, but still I wonder exactly what went wrong.

So has Raptor opened up yet? Did they figure out what happened?

3 TTD rides in 2 hours!

A ride operator myself, I still can't figure out what happened. (No, I don't work on Raptor). Any news on if it's open yet?
Yes it is open i was there on the 26 and it was running good untill the power went out in the whole front of the park then it was down again but from that it ws running the rest of the day power was out for about an hour or so it's kinda odd seeing all rides comming to a stop.

I was over by wicked twister when it happend and people that where on wicked twister came to a hard stop flying into the station I bet that didn't tickle when they stoped.

The way I put it Six Flags needs more parks to keep up with the one and only Cedar Point :)

Actually no. The floor and the forementioned "railing" stays down until the next train is in the station, and stopped, then the operator lifts the floor and that "closes" the railing, so it is possible for a train to glide through the station.

Who wishes Raptor's floor worked like Talon's! ;)
Who got to hear her name over Talon's loudspeaker! :)
