Skyhawk Testing??

I just went on CedarPoint.com and looked at the Skyhawk webcam. They stop it at a certain point, but if you look at it, the swings look like they are in mid-swing. They are off the ground. Did anybody see them earlier?

I think they stop it for all night, but I don't know when it starts in the morning (the webcam that is) so, hurry!

Also, has anyone seen them change the Skyride cables? It was dark when I checked

They did that so they could pour the concrete for SkyHawk's base.

Don't worry. Since they poured the concrete, they should start testing soon.

The question is though, is it actually under it's own power when the arms are in that position? Or is it pushed and held there by a machine?

Maybe the piece of machinery in front of the ride was holding the pulled swings out of the way using cables or chains.

It could....but I think the cables would be visable, at least to some degree. Plus, wouldn't they use something a bit little bit heavier like a forklift?

That lift they're using is plenty heavy. And I doubt the cables would be very visible. Also, I would guess that SH cannot hold its arms in a non-resting position. It seems to me that would take a substantial amount of force on the pivots.

Yeah, that's a lull, and a lull of that size probably weighs at least 6000 pounds.

I used to operate a JCB machine similar to that one. The lift capacity at 41' was 8,000lb. The weight of the machine itself is around 25,000lb. The one at SH isn't much smaller (about 20-30%) than the JCB mentioned, so I would think its more than up to the task.

Wow, it doesn't need any studying or figures. Plain and simple, the crane/forklift thing is/was holding Skyhawk's arms forward for they had some room to pour concrete. This offseason is really dragging out for some of you. :)

It just didn't look heavy enough to me.:P

Kool.....they must be taking advantage of the warmer weather. Good maybe testing will start within the next couple of weeks.
