I got 6 rides on Skyhawk yesterday, but while riding I noticed that the swinging arm closest to where you enter the ride was not slowing down as quickly as the other arm... it was a very slow free swing.
As of about 8 PM last night, The ride closed, but then re-opened with only the other arm operating. And now watching the Skyhawk Cam, it is still only running one arm... Good thing its a Monday... capacity must be terrible on that now. I wonder what was causing the "free swing"

At least they're keeping it open.

I agree.. My friend yesterday was able to get his first ride on Skyhawk because of that one arm. Im also glad the ride is able to operate one arm independently of the other... Thats smart engineering...

I rode it last night after it had reopened with just one one side, and it felt like it was running faster than when both sides are running. It was different not seeing the other side swinging in the other direction.
Heh. Rode it an hour and a half before this happened. I was surprised about the bad capacity with both arms running... can't imagine what it'd be like with just one.
I noticed the one side not slowing down as quickly, and still gently rocking away whenever the restraints are released the past couple of weekends. It seemed noticably worse on Friday, so I'm not surprised that it's crippled.

Its at Valleyfair, and I'll let you know when I get back. Work is sending me to St. Paul for training, I'm planning on at least one night being spent on Wild Thing and their SS. Might even try to catch some front seat rides on SV.

When I rode that side of the ride during Coaster Mania it seemed "weak" compared to the other arm. The now broken arm didn't seem to deliever the airtime that it had done before.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Again, another attempt at a world record with tallest and fastest...and it breaks. Big shock there.

Actually, its quite surprising because S&S has a pretty good track record with reliability.

I just caught it on the webcam doing 1 arm operation. It sure does look strange. Hopefully they can continue that until the other arm is fixed, and because I'm going tomorrow and want another ride ;).
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

How is the new one at WoF doing?Damn, CP just cannot get a break this year.
It's at Valleyfair, and I haven't heard of it breaking down, I got nine rideso nit last Friday...Yea, both of the arms keep swinging slightly even after the restraints are realeased. I was kinda suprisewd as it might be a liability to have it still moving, but you'd have to be pretty unstable to slip under it methinks..
Here we go again.... <Rolls Eyes>
