Sky Ride

I hope I didn't miss this somewhere, but I did the requisite searches and came up empty.

Why isn't the Sky Ride running? I noticed the other night it wasn't running, and thought maybe they had closed it early, but it's not running today either. Did somebody fall out or is it mechanical or none of the above?

Just curious...

I got nothin'.

Did somebody on the main midway fart? Cause if so, that would make enough of a breeze to shut the ride down.... :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Do some of you ever go to CP? Sky Ride is always going down for high winds.

I believe if the wind is above 5 or 10mph it can't run. It is the most sensitive ride in the park.

How fast does the wind need to be for TTD to close?

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

Yes Sky Ride can only run if the wind is less than 10 mph or you will be flying in the wind, that would totally freek me out,if those tram cars waddle in the wind.

120.1 mph :)

I really have no idea.

Sky Ride can operate with winds of up to 20 MPH. After 20 MPH, it must shut down due to high winds.

Winds over 10 mph = skeletons in gondola's. (ref: Halloweekends) ;)

I was told by a ride op that if the wind hit 35 mph, TTD would close.

Interesting story from yesterday, though I know it happens all the time. The group in front of my son and I had a couple of basketballs. The ride op did a great job of informing the guests of the rule. The group gave him a bit of a hard time and didn't want to exit or did they want to get a locker. They eventually decided to leave the basketballs on the platform, even though the op told them they could not. Well, after their bucket left, the basketballs were discarded. :)

Maybe the sign needs to be more prominent. Maybe guests need to pay more attention. Perhaps both. But it must get really, really old for those poor ride ops. Hats off to you guys.

I've heard 35mph, but it depends on the direction.

About time some ride ops took control of the situation. And it's about time guests stop thinking they are the exception to the rule. It really doesn't cost that much to rent a locker for the day to put that stuff in.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

Dosn't it close for rain too? I wish it was so I wouldnt have to walk in the rain.

All rides will close do to the rain at some point, it just depends how hard it is coming down. I believe Sky Ride is a bit more sensitive to the rain than other rides, but I've never really been at the park when it was raining past a few sprinkles so I don't really know.

Thrills Around the Corner!

MF usually never stops running. Unless it's monsoon rain.

Skyride will operate in the Rain. It goes down in very heavy rain.

However, moving 12 mph through the sky with an open cabin will get you wet if its raining. Standing up will not help.

As a former member of the sky ride crew. the ride goes down for 20 MPH wind at a steady rate and Gusts over 25 MPH. As for rain the ride will run untill management finds it to unsafe to run. Last year when the remains of hurricane Katrina came up to Ohio we were one of the last rides to shut down. The stations were flooded out and really safty was not a factor for managemnet. But finally they did shut us down. It really depends on what managment and supervision seems fit in closing the ride down. But to also metion matence would call us down befre managment and supervision. Showing the true in compodence in both Management and supervistion.
