Sixflags Magic Mountain

Hey I was just wondering I have read that May 13, 2007 Sixflags Magic Mountain built there 17th roller coaster Tatsu. So does this mean Cedar Point no longer has the most Rollercoasters? Also does this mean Cedar Point is no longer America's Roller Coast. I do not mean to start any arguments just wanted to know if this was true with SFMM having more rollercoaster then Cedar Point.

Yes. It's true. The government isn't going to let CP call themselves the Roller Coast anymore. When they submitted their application for renewal of the term back in April, the Department of Amusements denied the request.

I haven't heard if SFMM has petitioned for the designation or not.

America's Roller Coast is a marketing slogan, there is no official title. Also, SFMM isn't on any coast, so it wouldn't qualify.

Yes, SFMM did take CP's record of 17 coasters, although there is some dispute with MM's count as Flashback hasn't operated since 2003. They do currently have more coasters than anywhere in the world.

I built 18 coasters in my backyard to take the title away for myself. I don't think any of them will run (or ever could run), but since SFMM can do it, so can I!

That's why I was HOPING that CP was building two coasters this year. But, I know that's wishful thinking.

At least in 2007 they'll be tied again. Unless SFMM builds another one. Ha Ha.

However now that Six Flags is under new management, the company thinks Magic Mountain has too many roller coasters. I wouldn't be expecting another one from there any time soon.

Thrills Around the Corner!

This Would explain why they got ride of the Auto safety spiels maybe they were worried SFMM would go after them for the name and they got ride of them in till next year when they truly are back the the title again. Does anyone know if the new ones say America's Roller Coast.

Yes they took the "title" away, but who cares? It's quality that matters, not quantity.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

^ Yeah. Quality is something SF will never figure out. All they care about is breaking records and this is showing to be a stupid idea.

Actualy I have. KK just came out last year and it has spent more downtime in 1 year than TTD has in 3 years. Also they just make cheap vekoma clones and put them in all their parks at the same time like Deja Vu.

2007 hasn't happened yet.

2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator

If you've been paying attention then you'd know that SF has a new owner and has made quite a few changes. Most of the reviews coming back from people who have made it to the parks say things are heading up, not down.

Don't try and sound like you're intelligent and then spout off that in one year KK has had more downtime than TTD in 3. They both have had their share of problems, but KK is having no more than TTD did during its first two years.

The 2006 CP brochure claims that it's 16 coasters are more than any other place on earth. Without Flashback, SFMM still operates 16 coasters, making it a tie, still allowing CP to say they have the most, even though it is a tie.

When the CP brochures were printed, it was before Tatsu. Just because they write something doesn't make it true.

Since nothing has been decided officially, its just a matter of opinion at this point, whether you think the record is broken or its a tie.

My two cents = I think its a tie since one is not operating. Once they have 17 coasters going with riders everyday, then the record's broken.

CP will bounce back with the records though. Just takes a little time to build.

There is no official title anyway. Its not like there is a panel of judges that awards a park a medal for most coasters. Its all enthusiasts arguing because their park is "better" and they need something to prove it.

It's quite a challenge to go to SFMM on any given day and be able to ride even half of their coasters. I haven't been this year so I wasn't aware that there were changes in place and it was looking up. Good to hear; it is the best park to compare to CP here out west.

The Amazement Park

i have a comment for sixflags mm... it is not about quantity... it is all about quality... cp wins!!! sry i didnt notice that there was this same post alittle ways up *** Edited 5/17/2006 11:05:37 PM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***
