Six Flags Ohio

Premier buying Cedar Fair would be one of the most devastatingly tragic events ever to occur in the amusement industry. Not that I think there is a snow ball’s chance in hell of it ever happening, but don’t even think such obscene thoughts!
Anyone who even thinks that Premier would buy CF should be shot!!!!

As Captain Janeway would put it:
You have just crossed the line. End of debate.

I don't think there is much of a chance either (but never say never). It brings up a question though: We all know CF is set up as a limited partnership. Does anyone know what the ownership base of the partnership looks like? Are there a couple of senior partners with a great deal of control or is it spread more evenly? Are the FUN "units" that trade on the market shares of the company as a whole, or are they shares of a sub-partnership that combine to become one large partner with other senior players.
That could be a separate topic discussion in itself. I never really understood the foundations of a limited partnership, but I think what it boils down to is who has controlling interest (Kinzel) and they keep the partnership limited for that reason. (I think RideMan (Dave Althoff) would be able to clarify this.)

There is a post on cedarfair.com, that CF just recently bought back something like $25 mil. shares.

I dont wear underwear! LMAO! :) Seriously, no Six Flags over Ohio will never be good as CP, but at least they will improve the park by alot! One thing, I think most can agree on, is that Six Flags cant make GL any worse than it already was!

What do you think Cedar POint would look like 10 years down the line if Premeire were to buy it, and rename it Sixflags Central Ohio.
i dunno, tohot2se...SFGAm is nothing to scream over...they USED to be MARRIOTS Great America and i think the park was better then. they were the ones that built the Eagle and brought a major coaster to the land of Lincoln, not Premier. yes, Premier has added a lot to that park, but they took a lot away, too. Tidal Wave, for one. God i miss that ride. it still upsets me that it was sacrificed for Batman (even though Batman is OK). so Premier might do more harm than good overall. the strange thing is, PKS (Premier) stock is MUCH higher than CP stock right now...they are supposedly in financial trouble. wonder how long that will last? the high price i mean..

Who is in financial trouble?

Cedar Fair is worth a whole lot less than Premier (just look at the number of parks each owns), so stock price really doesn't have anything to do with it.

Premier has more assets than Cedar Fair, which may explain the higher stock price, but I feel Cedar Fair is managed MUCH better. Premier has a very large amount of debt., which some people feel may come back to bite them on the ass. Anyway, Premier's stock isn't that much higher. CF is at around 20 and Premier is at around 27.
Both stocks are not the types of stocks good for day trading. The only way you can make any money off of them is if you hold them long term or for the dividend they pay.

At the dawn of the new millennium they all bowed down to CP realizing they lost the war.
servo, servo, servo...How in God's name are you saying that Premier removed Tidal Wave?! Premier has owned SFGAm fo barely two years! If you want to place blame, place blame on Time Warner!
Well said DaBull! Premier has only had Six Flags for about a year and a half now. And servo, as far as knowledge on SFGA, I was born and raised in Chicago, and I know alot about the park! Do some research and see why Tidal Wave was taken down. Mariots was a much smaller park before Six Flags got ahold of it, in my opinion, but I guess it depends on what age you are and what you can remember about SFGA when just Mariot owned it. And when Six Flags did buy them out, they did alot to the park, we have yet to see what Premier will do for SFGA. In defense of SFGA, for a while, untill recently, they usually got the "new designs on coasters" before anyone else did, hence, The edge, yes I know its no longer there, (called the demon drop at CP) and dont forget, I believe they got there version of the Power Tower before Cp did! It seemed for awhile there that Six Flags, got the new stuff, and CP just made it better and more of a record breaker. Now CP is coming out with the new designs before Six Flags does! Hope this made sense. :)
