Six Flags Great America rehabbing East River Crawler

This park is getting better by the year. They have kept (and kept-up!) Whizzer, 2 log flumes, Fiddler's Fling (a Huss Calypso I think?) and now they are making sure the old Lobster - now called East River Crawler, is here to stay for years and years!

I was very surprised they even put up a cool informative sign here.

East River Crawler (many of us locals still call it Lobster - it used to have orange cars and a giant Lobster painted on the ground under the ride - it still has it's lobster with red light up eyes on the center "hub") is a Schwarzkopf 'Monster II' (or 'Polyp'? I'm getting conflicting info) that opened with the park in 1976.

The Great America in California opened with the more standard Eyerly Aircraft 'Monster' model, but had the same giant Lobster painted under the ride: http://www.cardcow.com/images/set444/card00430_fr.jpg
