Single Riders

Hello,

I may or may not be going alone to Cedar Point soon. Just wondering, are their any rides that do not allow single riders? Thanks!

As far as I know, there are no rides that exclude single riders. But you probably will be paired up with someone else on some more popular rides.

Just because you can't justify charging $3 for a Pepsi doesn't mean you can't charge $3 for a Pepsi.

Yea, depending on how busy it is, the crews may be trying extra hard to pack the trains so you might get paired up with someone. Also, be alert when you're on the platform because sometimes they'll call for single riders or if you see an empty seat, you can just jump in. You can almost always get on the ride a train or two (or more) early if you're a single rider. We always tried to keep our trains packed last year, especially on busy days, to boost our numbers.

I was just wondering, if riding alone does it change the ride any?

CP is the best!! I will never stop loving it. You gotta, you wanna, you have to hold on Cedar Point HOLD ON!!! :) :) :)

I'm a pretty regular rider on Magnum. And some days I go, I go alone. I always jump on single rider calls. Even if I'm in the back of the station, I try to get up to the train fast. I think it can be fun going alone just to meet people and not usually having to wait as long in lines.

Haha, I'm remembering one day when it seemed like every time I needed a single rider, Jerry would come popping up the stairs running toward the train! :) Good times. He got 83 rides that day if I remember.

I'm going to be in the park on Thursday, probably by myself. Or I might find someone on the crew who has the day off or something. Either way, I'm sure it'll be fun...

A few weeks ago I got a front seat ride on Magnum without any wait.

It's sometimes good to be a single rider. :)

Its not bad at all to be a single rider! Have a great day.

The only problem with your story Eric is that you had to ride Magnum. Couldn't you find a real coaster...like Mean Streak? ;)

Let your mind go...and your body will follow...

Do you ever think that amusement parks would ever get a single rider line? I mean you could get on all the ride alot faster. What do you think?

Disney has something like that. Basically you join the Fast Pass line at the beginning, but you get pulled off towards the end and have to wait for the singles to open up. Still beats waiting in line for hours.

yes when you ride alone the rides are totally different, the train goes on a different track and it goes about 30 miles faster :)

The thing with single rider lines at Disney parks and such is because the rides that have that line have ride vechicals with an odd number of seats.

EX: Test Track has 6 seats be car (2 rows of 3). Splash Mountian (at DL) has 5 seats per car.

But Rock and Rollercoaster (and all the coasters really), are two across and have no single rider line.

Single riders are just there to fill in that extra 1 or 2 seats that are not in normal group sizes.

So as much as I would like it, I dont think it would work at CP.

RIDE IT OUT!

MF: 5
WT: 0
MAG: Phh... After about 10 at once I stop counting. So take that as it is.

Its sometimes fun to be a single rider, because if there is an empty seat on a ride, you can usually ask a ride op if you can sit there or something along those lines. Its fun to go by yourself. You can then do what you want, when you want, and leave whenever you want.
Oh the memories,Matt!! :) I was always bolting across the platform to jump in train as they were checking bars! I remember actually falling into train once! LOL

jwhoogs-there is a single rider line at Busch Williamsburg for Apollo's Chariot. It is not used all the time. Mainly when they have a longer line.

The way it works is as you get to the station,a line splits off to the left. You walk right up to end of queue. It is right next to Front seat line. After they load train, they let single riders through to fill in empty seats. You don't always get a seat you like, but cut some time from the wait. I used it a lot a couple of years ago. When I was there this Easter,it was not being used since it was slow.

The problem I see with CP is time. The rides have a short time limit to get the trains in & out.

Just a helpful note to anyone that reads this.... if you are a single rider and are riding magnum while we call for single riders, please come up. The crew is trying very hard to pack trains and the station. It helps us run the ride better. We still have stoubrn guests that will not leave there group and then we end up with MORE singles. Some days I feel like such an idiot screaming for single riders. So please try to help out Maggie's crew as much as possible.

How much is capacity really increased when a single rider is being packed into every other train when intervals for those every other trains are being missed by 5-10 seconds? I realize that when the intervals are still hit packing in the single riders will help capacity a noticable amount, but my last few visits to Maggie those singles seem to have been slowing the crew down.

The closest I'll ever get to riding a B&M Flyer is looking down while on Raptor... :(

Yea, Mark was telling me that some people on the crew don't really understand that interval is most important. If you get one extra person in the train, but waste 5 seconds doing it, you actually lower capacity. I think he realizes it and probably several others too, but sometimes its hard to get everyone to understand this concept. Basically, when "READY" is yelled out, no one else should be boarding (unless it's Jerry, Dan, Joe, etc because they know how to buckle their own damn seatbelt! :)).

We were pretty good last year at packing the trains and getting them ready just in time. Packing the trains does help. When the crew is kicking major a**, packing trains and hitting interval every time. You can let people just flow through that turnstyle for like 10 minutes before it gets backed up and you have to hold the lind up for a couple trains. Interval is definitely the most important thing though.
