I can't really comment on the layout of the queue house since I didn't use it this year. But, it seems like there is some lack of signage and enforcement of the policy. I've even read that groups of two or four were allowed to ride together from the single rider line. So, I think the park needs to either abolish the idea of the SRL or fix the layout so it is clear to everyone. I'll be vocal to people cutting in line, but I'd never touch any of them. So, you may have just encountered some really rude and obnoxious people which is really unfortunate since you waited 45 minutes and then left.
God help someone if they were to lay a hand on myself, or anyone I'm with, especially a 7-month-pregnant woman.

That's just rude beyond belief. Doing something like that followed by a rude gesture or, in this case, verbal abuse just shows how low a person is. Nothing in this world is addressed in a kind manner anymore (or at least most of the times).
Sorry you had to experience that saratonin22. But don’t feel embarrassed by what those people said, you were just doing what you felt was allowed. Rest assured you wouldn’t get that kind of disrespect from any of us here if one of us confronted you.:)
In any case, I agree with John since that makes the most sense. In fact I've only used the SRL twice. And if I do want to use it, it's either at the base of the stairs or half way up the stairs where you have another chance to get in the SRL.

And that option is no longer available. As I mentioned above, they added to the railing, and the gap allowing you to cross to the other side is no longer there. Either get in at the base of the stairs, or not at all.
Since the SRL begins at the base of the stairs, I'm assuming that Cedar Point put it in to fill the trains easier - NOT give people the ability to cut the line and save time. So, since they haven't advertised the SRL from the entrance of the queue, I'm expecting that they didn't want people just heading over there past the queue house.
Since this is different than what most other parks have, CP should probably put up a sign that says so. I think the real issue here is lack of communication on the park's part. None of us really know how the line is supposed to work - even those that go weekly.
Thanks everyone for your comments. Hopefully at some point CP will think about adding to their signage about the SRL. I have to say I was surprised in line when all the people filtered past to get to the SRL, so when the situation applied for my son to be a single rider, I thought what the heck - guess that's how it works. We certainly learned a hard knocks lesson about not having the facts, and being blind followers.
Maybe I'll name my next son who's due this fall 'Maverick' :) Thanks again for the comments!
Here is my policy when I'm working the Single Rider Line position:
If I'm at the top of the stairs calling for single riders, you are more than welcome to come up to the SRL anywhere from the end of the boardwalk all the way through the queue house. However, if there is not an employee calling for single riders at the top of the stairs, you are expected to wait in line until you get to the stairs just like everyone else. If you jump out of line anywhere other than the bottom of the stairs to get in the single rider line, I'm going to ask you to leave the line and re-enter at the entrance.
Pretty much, unless one of us is calling for single riders, wait until you hit the stairs. That's how the line is supposed to work, you shouldn't be jumping into the line the second you hit the queue house.

Oh, didnt catch that. In that case, I'm glad they added it.

On Dragster this year, at least when I was there, they were asking for single riders to fill empty seats on the train, and that got my on about 2 loads faster.
CP should at least ask for single riders for the front seat on the more popular coasters like Millie and Raptor, if they don't already.

It seems to be hit or miss on other coasters. Sometimes you'll hear ride ops calling out for single rides, other times it seems like they don't even bother. I guess it depends on who is working.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Does anyone recall the "Fastpass" they tried a few years ago? I thought that was a fairly decent idea, although I could see where if I had been in line for an hour and someone behind me in the line got to go to the front because they had been there earlier in the day (to get a pass for that particular time) and I had not, yeah, I would be ticked (a little, because I had not been smart enough to do it myself). On the other hand, I liked being able to go to the front of WT in its first year without having to wait 3 hours to get on. I could see where a single rider line would create the same tension. *** Edited 8/29/2007 12:47:32 PM UTC by Bogiehead***
That's why they eliminated FreeWay - thankfully. They received a ton of complaints about the system and how unfair it was for guests that arrived later in the day. Even when we arrived at the park at opening, it was still a pain trying to get the stamps. It was just a bad system. I much prefer everyone waiting in the same queue (minus a handful of guests).
Maybe they might consider what KI does - on the busiest weekend days, giving season passholders tickets to skip the lines on a few select rides at specific times? I don't know much about CP's season pass system, but it doesn't appear to me that they give too many perks to their passholders - this would be a nice one. KI has done it for years, and it has gone well from what I have seen.
ha ha ha! I wondered how long it would take for someone to say that. I know you're just joking, but I've been going to Cedar Point yearly since I was an infant. I've always waited in the queues and never had an issue with it. I think waiting in line is part of the fun of parks - especially if you go with a fun group of people.
I also don't think eight people "cutting in line" at Cedar Point on any given day affects the masses in the least. Sure, people here or there will feel slighted because they had to wait one extra train. But, for the most part, this is the way I feel it should be done. Run your park as efficiently as possible and the queues will be manageable. If you do that, there's no reason for a Q-bot. Q-bots just put a bad taste in a LARGE portion of your guests' mouths. At the end of the day, you don't want a large portion of your guests leaving the park feeling like they were shafted.
I agree completely. Six Flags uses the Flash Pass system, and I really would rather have everyone just wait in the same line. Besides, when you get the Flash Pass, you're limited to what you can ride, so you end up just riding those five or six rides all day rather than riding everything in the park. It's overrated, overpriced, and not a good guest satisfaction strategy if you ask me.
