At this point, after breaking all records with new rides for the last FOREVER, CP needs a ride such as a model of Cyclone or some wood-twister and the future boardwalk area is a perfect fit. Also a great idea for the area would be shops and maybe midway stunts, I love what Disney did with their Boardwalk near Epcot. If CP could pull of a Disney Boardwalk with great coaster(s) and rides it would be perfect. They already have many games in the area(not arcades).
The actual midway would offer a cool breeze from Lake Erie as well as a great view. It would be an
on-going process from year to year. However, I don't think the Space Spiral would fit.
Is Space Spiral air-conditioned?

I don't believe Cedar Point really needs to restore the Grand Pavilion to it's original looks besides opening a few windows that were boarded up. The cupola only lasted a few seasons so that wasn't part of Cedar Point history for long. If you look at the building today, it still looks remarkably the same as it did in the 1910's.

I don't think the park will take it down. There is no reason, when that building was built in 1888, it was built to complement the beach and would work with the "boardwalk project" if it ever materialized.

I think the Space Spiral would fit in perfectly with a boardwalk theme.

It would give a great view of the beach, anyway.
I think that half the boardwalk is already there. We already have the games, an older style kids area, a space tower, a Ferris wheel, and a dark ride, North Coast Parasail, and of course a beach.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
But the key thing is that CP needs "the other half" to make it a full fledged boardwalk..

After looking at the pics on TerraServer, putting a giant CCI twister in that area would be a tight squeeze. They would have to tear down the Grand Pavilion in order to add something of substantial size and length with enough turns and hills to be a great twister. Also keep in mind that the coaster can't take up the entire space or else it will look very cluttered, there needs to be room for grass/trees around the ride. They wouldn't want to create the illusion that CP has to cram rides in because it's running out of space.
Ok I was at the Point today. I walked around the area of DT until the Grand Pavilion. First off IMHO I don't think that the Grand Pavilion is going to be torn down. I like the history of CP. I would hate to see them tear down the Grand Pavilion. The Grand Pavilion is out of the way. If you use part of the employee parking area, and maybe do something with DT, there would be a very nice boardwalk. Then at the end of it there would be the Grand Pavilion, followed by the Hotel Breakers. In 1900 Cedar Point had a very nice boardwalk, what they should have done was have kept it. If they would have kept, it who knows how nice it would look like now.
