Significant Events at Cedar Point

The post describing records broken by Cedar Point included these items, which aren't really records, but are significant events.
--------
-1910 Glenn H. Curtiss completed the first long-distance flight over water and landed on the Cedar Point Beach
-1913 Knute Rockne created the forward pass on the Cedar Point Beach
-1925 Helen Keller was the guest speaker for the Annual Convention of Lions
----------

They truly are special, and I am sure there are many more. For example, for a great many years, the Miss Ohio Pageant was staged in the Ballroom at Cedar Point. Also, let us not forget the largest in-water boat show on the Great Lakes at the Cedar Point Marina.

More?

How about including the "first day issue" held by the US Post Office in the Fall of 88(?). This is when the stamps with the four carousel horses one of which was the armoured horse from the kiddieland carousel were released. I didn't realize at the time what a big deal first day issues are to the stamp collecting people. I have a number of envelopes with the first day issued cancellation (Dan has one too -- gee Dan where did you get yours?) Also, I have the "offical" program signed by all the people on the dias that day. (again, something else I learned was a big deal for the stamp collectors).
I had forgotten about that, and I was there that day! We bought a number of covers and stamp combinations that day, mostly because my dad is big into the horses, rather than the stamps. Actually, there is another 1st day cover from Cedar Point, which is actually postmarked from the Cedar Point substation. I can't remember the event, or when it happened, but it was something like 40 years ago or more.

Here is some trivia on the Rockne forward pass. He did not create it himself, a fellow ND teamate was with him that summer and helped him create the forward pass. What was his name?
