PLEASE HELP US MEAN STREAK LOVERS OUT AND SIGN THE PETITION TO KEEP MEAN STREAK FROM BEING TORN DOWN!!!! https://www.change.org/p/cedar-point-keep-mean-streak-operating?recruiter=581198249&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=sh
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the ambition, but the petition will not stop Cedar Point from removing Mean streak.
I understand where your coming from. I didn't want Cedar Point to tear down White Water Landing. But after it was gone, we got Maverick, one of the best rides in the park.
Hang in there kepmeanstreak, i don't think we are going to be disappointed by what cedar point does next.
I like Mean Streak but I've seen this coming for some time. I'll miss it but I think it would be more productive at this point to just get your last rides in and work on accepting it. We're at least getting a proper chance so say goodbye which is more than we got when an entire park closed in the past.
Would I absolutely love to see Mean Streak stay? Sure, but I can't stop what the park wants to do.
A petition is not going to sway what the park sees as years of declining ridership against steadily increasing maintenance costs. Why continue to throw money at a ride instead of opting to have it reprofiled or remodeled and save money in the long run?
I'm certainly going to try and make it for one last ride, but I certainly hope that whatever they do with it remains in the FrontierTown theme and is a wild compliment to Maverick.
I told my daughter to think of Maverick as a wild bronco and to think of Mean Streak as a runaway wagon train. That wagon now has busted spokes and a few broken wheels.
Let's let Cedar Point make that runaway wagon train much more thrilling.
You say "It has been apart (sic) of a lot of generations." Since when is 1.5-2 generations "a lot"? Honestly no offense, but with your caps lock here and the way your petition is written it kinda sounds like it's coming from a child.
The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.
This reminds me of an article from a couple weeks ago with Rob Decker: http://www.avclub.com/article/what-happens-roller-coaster-once-its-over-hill-239738
AVC: Are there rides you can never close? Where you’d get people chaining themselves to a coaster or something if you were going to tear it down?
RD: Yes, it happens sometimes. You have to understand that some rides have fallen in popularity, and we hear it a lot. But sometimes, our rides have very little ridership, and we announce that we’re going to take it out for future expansion, and suddenly everyone loves that ride again.
According to your petition, mean streak is a classic that has been around many generations and is the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world. I don't think 25 years is exactly many generations. In fact, it might be one, many one and a half. Also, I wouldn't count a 25 year old coaster with individual ratcheting lap bars, headrests and seat dividers with a ton of trims a "classic." Then, the tallest wooden roller coaster is Colossus at Heide Park, the fastest is Lightning Rod at Dollywood. Plus, if a coaster being the tallest and fastest wooden coaster saves it from being torn down, then why is Son of Beast now in a scrap yard? Your argument has a lot of holes, and you're simply outnumbered by a ton of people that want to burn the thing to the ground.
CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

I know and recognize I'm in the minority of people who'd like to see the ride stay. It had a great run.
This is what makes Cedar Point what it is, is that they're willing to innovate and keep the park trending with the times. I've been nothing but amazed with the new thrills provided by GateKeeper, Valravn, and Rougarou.
Did I hate to see Mantis and Disaster Transport go? Sure, but I bet the park despises declining ridership more.
Eventually, we may see Rougarou relocated as it always seems to be a walk-on ride.
Keeping everything in mind, it's important to make peace with the park's decision.
Go have a final ride, say your goodbyes, and let's look forward. If the RMC treatment is as good as advertised, we can then be grateful to Cedar Point for reimagining the ride, if that is the direction they choose.
