All right. The Viper is a really good roller coaster, but it's located in a really bad park. But Cedar Point's Corkscrew is a lousy looping coaster. In my mind, Viper will get more riders at CP than at SFDL, because SFDL has earned a bad reputation for having more than half of their rides closed most of the time. Plus, all Corkscrew has is a loop and a double corkscrew, while Viper has both of them but is the first looping coaster to feature a batwing inversion. So, Corkscrew to the scrap yard, and Viper to the Point!
Considering that I live right around Darien Lake, I would hate to see it leave the park, its isnt that great of a ride, but its still better than CPs corkscrew, i wouldnt want to see CP buy the ride and put in their park, something about foreign rides in CP makes it feel unnatural. Id rather just see CP keep corkscrew and just build something new for 2006
While in line count time between trains on track, divide that number by waiting time on front sign, multiply that number by number of people per train, and you'll get an approximate number of people in line!
No offense to the original post(er), but I think that idea is too small-minded for this kind of business and operation.
Corkscrew is completely unique to CP in that it fits over the midway and intertwines with the space that it does. It's not easy to just move something over and put it back together and make it fit in that kind of twisting, curving space that Corkscrew does. Also, Corkscrew is historically unique to the park.
I really dont see any reason that CP would just up and bring a ride to their park like that, and if they were going to, why it would be Viper from SFDL.
Again, no offense to the first post or poster, but I just dont think it's a realistic option. Rides are not just "plug-and-play" at this level, with this kind of business and recognition by the GP.
Don't you suppose it would have to be for sale before someone could buy it?
Now Cedar Fair buying the entire park... there's something I could get behind. That park should own Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Judging by the lack of capital expenditures there the last few years, I suspect they already do.

SFDL is my home park and yes half of their rides are down when you are there. I went there 5 days in the summer and only one of the days was even busy. Maybe if they added a major attraction in the past 7 years their attendance would be higher.
I would love for CF to buy SFDL. I doubt it will happen though.

101 on Magnum and counting...
SFDL is my home park too and I didn't even bother to go there this year, because I am too discusted with there rides allways being closed, plus I'm board with all there rides. This is the first year I didn't even buy a season pass. I hope that Cedar Fair buys SFDL then I would buy a season pass again.
Know what I think, The Viper is the best roller coaster at Six Flags Darien Lake. Boomerang is always closed, Mind Eraser either closed, or runs 1 train. Plus, it's very rough. Predator, I will never go on that again after my ride of terror on it in 2004, and Superman, runs one train with a full queue most of the time. But Viper, 5-10 minute wait, always open, 2 trains running all the time (wonder what happened to the 3rd one), and it's the smoothest Arrow Looper with a double corkscrew. I once rode Viper 45 times in a row.
The Viper is the first coaster i have ever been on. Bein from Buffalo, and having 2 supervisor cousins (LONG before six flags took over) my family used to get free camping every wekeend there (ahhh what memories).
since six flags took over the place has gone downhill...if anything does happen to the park I would love to see the Viper get moved on to a better park. IMO its a classic.
