I think one of the largest problems Cedar Fair had with the park purchase was the haphazard way that Six Flags squeezed new rides into anywhere that would fit. Shipwreck Falls has got to be the worst possible location for an attention grabbing large splash ride. Six Flags crammed it next to Big Dipper when the old waterpark was there and has no real presence IMO. I say move it to WWK! It would be another large attraction on that side, have a good line at all times that WWK is open, and grab a lot of attention. Plus more people would ride it since they are wet anyway. The current spot could just be left as open space or a new Chick-Fil-a :). What do you guys think?

There certainly is precedent for it as other water parks have splash rides. The question I guess is would it be worth it for as much money as it would take to relocate it?

^ Iwould think it would be worth it. All they would have to do is construct a concrete pool for the landing and possibly add a tropical theme to it. I just hate all the soaking wet people in that area of Big Dipper where there really is no match for that ride.
Not a good idea, Ship Wreck Falls is one of the most popular water rides at GL. It's one that actually gets you soaked unlike the other two.
There's actually a third water ride ;). However, the other one isn't really considered a water ride. Rocket Sled Ride should just be relocated to WWK. Seriously it's so lonely there :(.
OK...I didn't know what Rocket Sled Ride was until my 14 yo daughter just walked in the room and told me (after she cracked up laughing). She said it's a ride for little kids by the Foam Factory? We were thinking something big and thought maybe it was the Pepsi Plunge (before it became Pepsi Plunge).
LOL Honestly, I think the Rocket Sled Ride is just fine where it is.
I do like the idea of moving Shipwreck Falls to WWK.
Btw, what ever happened to the boat on the rocks by Shipwreck Falls? I thought that was some cool theming.
The boat was removed by Cedar fair since it was determined to be an eyesore. The Rocket Sled ride is another haphazard ride location brought to you by Six Flags. I think the worst was Hurricane Mountain where you had to walk bare foot and in your bathing suit or swim trunks through people eating at tables. I thought it was a rude location if you were trying to eat to have soaking wet people running constantly past your table. And hearing kids screaming "I AM GOING TO GET IN LINE FOR THE SLIDE MOMMY! while you are trying to eat.
From the moment I learned that they were planning to put the shoot-the-shoot there next to the Big Dipper I thought it was an opportunity missed. Why not place it back by the Grizzley Run with some lockers? Kind of like the wet area at the POint?
With the removal of the Falls it would create an opportunity to recapture some of the old charm of the park. After all it is one of the oldest areas of the park. Also moving the Falls and filling in the old water park stuff you have plenty of area to rebuild an arcade (something desparately needed in that part of the park) add a handful of small to medium flats and reconnect the only restaurant to the rest of the park.
It would be a bit of an investment, but I imagine that there are some gently worn rides out there that can be brought in (maybe some of the Points old cast-offs). For me it would seem like a big bang for a lesser buck compared to some investments that could be made.
smoke 'em if you got 'em
Did you email the park with your ideas?
I don't think they read Pointbuzz, but they do take emails very seriously.
If you don't, how will they ever know what the public wants?
