Well it looks like Point will be useing those tarp things for their lines again. This time for Wicked Twister. I hate these things. Thay give almost no shade. At lease at Kings Island their coasters and some other rides have some sort of building structure over their lines. I can think of only a few rides at Point that has something like that.

Disaster Transport
CP & LE Railroad
Paddle Wheel Excursions
Grand Prix Raceway
As hot as it was last summer, perhaps Point should consider ditching the tarps and start building some nice shade structures. Especally for those rides with longer likes.
The mist machines were a nice touch.

While I agree that CP needs more shade over their lines, especially the long ones, I think the tarps are fine. The thing I don't get with the tarps are they cover two sections of the queue and then leave two uncovered, then cover two and leave two uncovered. I understand that those tarps aren't cheap, but it would be nice if the whole line was covered by them. Never fails, every time the line stops I'm standing in an uncovered area. That the way my luck goes. The mist machines are good too.

I like the shade covers too. They do work a lot of really hot days. It's nice to get out of the beating heat of the sun, even if it is just a walk through the cover.
The mist machines are great too, until you realize the line hasn't moved in awhile and you've ben standing in the path of the mist too long because you're starting to get soak.

Although I have not been to the Point yet, looking at the Wicked Twister shade covers I can suggest why they might not have the entire queue covered. With the angle of the sun shinging down on the covers, the shade is not cast diectly below the covers, instead its pushed off to one side, namely one of the sides that doesnt have adequate shade covers above it. If they had put covers over the entire width of the line, the extra shade would do no more than to shade the grass. As for having buildings to house the lines, a few of the rides down here have them, but they are unairconditioned (it would cost a fortune to cool that much space). I'd rather have a little shade than be inside an uncooled building, not to mention that all the added costs of building the buildings, and cooling them would be passed along with a nice price hike on the tickets.

Not a bad thing.

Well, I think trees are the best for shade, because they don't block all of the light

Some people may like the open spots of shade in the que because they can look up and watch the ride. I have to say, the crew will have a great time cleaning the tarps with all the objects falling on them from the ride. Im sure sups will make sure of that.

I like the half tarps better because when the weather is perfect, you dont need a tarp, but partial tarps give you cover. With the way the lines are usually constantly moving (read: kudos to the ride ops for thier fast load and unload), you arent in the sun too long anyway. Just wear some sunscree, sunglasses, and hats, just not on MF or PT.
The tarps seem to hold heat in and inhibit breezes too, soo too many tarps are not that good.

Irrelevant, but had to say it...
