SF WOA-less commercial

In about the same time that I usually saw SFWoA commercials the past few years, I saw a SF commercial.

People are doing daily things. Washing cars, laundry etc. Bus pulls up,. old Man gets off. Fast beat music plays. The old man starts fast dancing. Everyone gets on the bus and goes to Six Flags.

I was almost sure it was showing WoA rides though. So if anyones else see's this commercial or saw it what is that WoA or GL rides now. I guess they have a right to use existing footage. If it was WoA footage wouldn't that hurt CF in some way? or Would it attract more people to GL?

On a similar topic. I'm interested in seeing how CF will advertise GL this year. I don't expect it to be upbeat like SF was advertising the park.

Also, does anyone know the name of the music they play? It actually gets me in the mood for CP instead of any Six Flags park. I figure it would be on a dance mix CD if anywhere.

I think the song is something like "I can party", not sure of the exact name. I think it was a recent top 40 type song.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

The music is Vengaboys- We Like To Party. It's Six Flag's commercial for the new season, the SFMM/generic version can be seen here. I dunno who's paying for it in your market but everywhere else it says Six Flags on the bus and they edit in local footage. Enjoy!

But then again, what do I know?
There's a pretty long thread about it over at Coasterbuzz.

What time does the water show start?

I'm sure that the media buys were already in place for SFWoA's spring advertising budget. Plus, in the event that the deal doesn't close, they have to operate as SFWoA...

That doesn't mean anything. You can pull spots an hour before they run.

I saw it on my local TV station here at home, and I haven't seen a commercial for SFWoA since it has been in operation so I'm assuming that they were trying to advertise SFGAm but they never stated a specific park in the commercial.

Everything that has a beginning has an end.

The Matrix Revolutions

It took several weeks for TTD spots to stop running and just regular old generic CP spots to start showing up last year. Sure, you can pull an ad at the last minute, but how much of a hassle is that?

Even if there's no SF park 'round here anymore it's still getting the name out there. I see Disney World and Universal Florida commercials all the time, but they're not here in Cleveland...

It's not a hassle. Trust me, I was a broadcaster long before I was a code monkey. If Dragster ads kept running, it's because that's what the agency wanted.

Regardless, Six Flags is running ads to restore some integrity to the brand in general, not sell any particular park.

I don't like this commercial too much. Why is it all the way out here? There isn't a Six Flags park within 6 hours of here. Also, I don't like how almost half of it doesn't even show the park, but yet an annoying man. I guess I just would advertise differently.

Marketing is about selling a feeling, not coaster POV. Don't think like an enthusiast.

I think it's the most brilliant TV creative we've seen from them. Brought to you by the same agency that does the Arby's oven mit.

I'd have to agree. Most amusement park ads to not have a plot. Most of the time, it's just alot of footage of rides that cause a brain overload. I really like the fact that they really try to get people to pay attention to the commercial by effectively making you wonder what kind of commercial it is at the beginning.
Another thing to consider when trying to answer the question of "Why the Cleveland market?" is that the deal hasn't officially been closed yet. If the deal falls through at the last minute (not likely, but still...) it'd be nice to have an ad campaign already going, don't you think?

Yeah I guess you guys are right. I just thought it was a corny commercial so my mind shot it down. You make a lot of good points. Guess that will appeal to families and does give this area something to fall back on.

Yeah, they will probably have a commercial with a bunch of young, vibrant, good looking people, having a great time. Then a hearse pulls up, and a grim reaper steps out. He motions for all of them to follow him, and they oblige. Cut to a b&w veiw of GL, where everyone is yawning, or asleep, or dead because it's sooo boring.

Yeah, that's much better than upbeat advertising.

While I agree that this new commercial gets the message out of the SF name, I am hoping they have individual SF park commercials set up for the respective markets.

Example would be SFGAm and their new Mardi Gras section along with 5 new rides.

That as pretty funny Tambo, but not hardly what I meant.

They have basically the same ad down here in Houston advertising Astroworld. They show some other non Astroworld rides that I don't recognize, but they always have done that in their Astroworld ads. According to the regional ACE newsletter we are getting some new paint jobs this season, another exciting one it sound like. Wish Cedar Fair could have bought the other black sheep of the SF family.
