Setpoint coaster........

Ok, well I DID want a new wooden twister coaster, but I just read that setpoint profile over at thrillride, and I can say I've changed my mind. Check out that racing inverted "Seizmic" coaster they developed. wow. That's all I have to say!

Where did setpoint come from? I know almost all of the coaster companies, but seems like they just sprang up really fast. I had never heard of the seizmic coaster until I read this article, I hope this thing gets built near here!

Yes, I saw that....It looked very innovative!

Their Swing Thing ride has been a big hit in the form of Super Saturator at Carowinds (I've got some great photos to post on CoasterBuzz) and Pteranadon Fliers at IOA. They appear to have a good design, but I'd really like to see it mature before seeing it at our beloved park.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Cedar Point does not build a type of rollercoaster that has never been done before.

I agree with magnum 1989. They just take something that's been done before and make it taller, steeper, and faster than all the rest.
I know, but if it works out like their other designs have...this could be a hit. I hope it's tried out somewhere too...but based on how well Setpoint's other projects have turned out, I don't see a big problem with it. When CP decided to go ahead with MF, they didn't know how it would turn out, they gave the go ahead before S:ROS opened at Darien Lake, so basically, they built a first of a kind coaster when they built MF. *** This post was edited by Clarkbar on 7/10/2000. ***
Wow..that has to be the coolest thing since the new Inverted coaster Superman Ultimate Escape at SFO.Its a shame to see all these parks getting innovative coasters and CP not picking up one.Maybe for 2001 or 2002?Cmon CP get with it!

I have said this before to.
Cedar Point didn't build the first steel sit-down when they built Millennium Force. The just built the tallest and the best.
Now on to the "innovative" coaster. Look at this some of this years top 10 lists. Do you see Batman the Ride or King Cobra on any of these lists? What about the Matterhorn Bobsled? Can any of you say that you wish that Cedar Point would have gotten Batman the Ride rather than Raptor? Would any of you like to have the King Cobra rather that Mantis. New coaster types are only innovative for at best one season. Then another park builds one taller, faster, and with more inversions.

These coasters already exist though. In the newest Rollercoaster magazine (the ACE publication) I think it is, it might be the newest ACE news, I have to check again, they show the Nickelodeon one though. Islands of adventure have one of these too. CP could build one of these, but I would much rather have a twister, but I must admit, these look kinda cool.

You were looking at the wrong part of the artical somewhatchewy. Go back and look at the very bottom of it.

I think he meant the split racer, as opposed to the swing thing, when he said new tech.
Well at least Im not the only one who has said it.
Millennium Force is indeed a great coaster..to break the speed and height barriers but steel out and back is not innovative. Its been done several times. In order for parks to compete and to draw your coaster enthusiasts you have to get more creative in your coaster library.noone is going to keep riding the same ones over and over again.
Its the same when you think about going to a theme park. Why go somewhere when they havent gotten a new ride in a few years? You wait, save your $$ until they get a new ride.Everyone likes to ride their favs dont get me wrong but you can always go for something newer, bigger and a whole lot better.MF has its time now but what happens in a few years when another park builds one a hell of a lot bigger??

That's what people said about Magnum, and, well, it's still considered the number one steel coaster in the universe.

Clarkbar wasn't talking about the Swing Thing (a simple suspended coaster), he was talking about Seizmic. New, VERY innovative design, that I REALLY want to see a park near me install in the near future :)

I just looked on the site that Clarkbar gave; what an awesome ride the Seizmic looks like it will be. I can't wait until some park decides to build it. I do agree with whoever said that CP shouldn't build it first though, let some other park build it, let it mature, then let CP build the best one of its kind.
