Season Passholder Appreciation Weekend

http://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/events-calendar

I was surprised when I happened across this. I was planning on going Friday for the 5 hours (with early entry) and then home, but will now stick around for Saturday as well.

Still no information on prices for platinum pass renewals.

Most other Cedar Fair parks have their 2013 pass information online now, and Platinum passes are $164 ($1 per foot of GateKeeper drop height) at all of them. This is $14 more than last year's fall prices. With GateKeeper and the season pass perks added this season, an increase isn't exactly a surprise. (I wonder if this means that Platinum prices once the season begins will push $200)

While Cedar Fair does do a lot to show appreciation to season pass holders, it does seem odd that there's still no loyalty perk for getting passes multiple years in a row. Something small like a free bring-a-friend pass or a free drink wristband seems logical, since new passes cost the same and get a free 2012 visit.

Wow! Hopefully CP delivers on the level of Kings Island for SPAW. Check this out:

Understandably, CP is pulling out ALL the stops to get people to come next weekend when it is typically dead, but that sure does suck for those who planned having the place to themselves ;)

I will say I'm happy about the ERT, especially for Dragster. Between the 10-11 ERT and the 11-12 EE for the same ride. That's two hours of Dragster with no lines! Ought to be able to conservatively get 15 laps in during those two hours... as long as there aren't any people who walk through the cue at an absurdly slow pace, as always seems to be the case during ERT.

If they let people board in the exit area of the ride to avoid walking all the way through the queue each time, that shouldn't be an issue. What's really annoying is when people board during ERT and don't immediately fasten their seatbelt, holding up the entire train.

Cedar Point's events page now mentions that passholder weekend "offers and prizes" include anyone purchasing a 2013 pass or renewing a 2012 passes, so they'll definitely be on sale then. It will be interesting to see what these offers/prizes are; Kings Island is doing hourly prizes this weekend for 2013 passholders during their appreciation days.

I've ever only seen them do that a couple times, and both were during ERT's where there were not enough people to send trains... so they were letting single riders congregate at the top of the exit ramp to fill empty seats.

I can only imagine how many laps per hour one could get while doing it that way... but frankly I do enjoy the exercise of running from exit to entrance, and walking through the que.

Edited for spelling mistake!

It wouldn't surprise me if the prize was another VIP jacket. :-)

Maybe they'll switch it up this year. There could be a grand prize drawing, and you get to jump in a pool of VIP jackets and bag as many as you can in 5 minutes.

This weekend, Cedar Point was offering $1.00 large 32 oz drinks for season pass holders. I believe there was also some souvenir cup deal where it was $5 for unlimited refills.

The for an extra $5, you ccan get unlimited refills for the day you purchase the bottle. They've had that most or all of the year. I got a $1 32oz soda today. It was delicious. :-)

Yeah, the $5 unlimited refill is not bad compared to what a normal drink costs. We did that most every time we went to the park or to Soak City.

Well if you consider that you get $1.99 refills on the mug anyway, they aren't losing money on the $5. How many people are going to refill the mug 3 times or more?

True, but my wife and I usually share a cup so we get our money's worth if we are there for the entire day.

Unless you can get the $5 band on an existing bottle, I'll probably never get it. I'm not buying a new bottle on every trip just for the option of paying an extra $5 to get unlimited refills for 1 day. The Platinum pass gets you $2 off of the bottle. But, even at that, they're what, $7? Plus the $5 and you'd have to drink 7 bottle full of pop just to make it worth while. I don't think I could do that even if I were sharing.

When I was at various six flags this year, I saw that a purchase of their bottles got you free refills on the day of purchase at no extra cost and the in season refills were only $1. I forget how much the initial bottle cost was. But, I don't think it was much different than CP. That helped east the pain of the $20 parking. :-P

My friend and I are headed to the park on Saturday (Sept 8). Any platinum passholders here want to help us out and bring us into the park on the $14.99 bring-a-friend deal? We'll give you $20 (cash) for each ticket to sweeten the deal. DM me if you are interested. Sorry in advance if this type of post isn't allowed here.

Hmmm... it looks like CP's pass pricing was just released. Maybe I'm missing something, but it appears renewals get no bonus incentives? Platinum is $164, but I see no $10 discount for a renewal like last year and no free ticket offer like the new guys get. :(

I noticed that too. I'm curious to see if we renew this weekend at the park whether there will be any added perks. I did see on the website that GateKeeper will be included in early entry next season which is enough to get me to renew.

I guess if you want the free ticket, you can always just buy a new pass instead of renewing. A little extra effort though...
