I have purchased Platinum Passes for my family for 2013. My understanding is that I show up with my receipt and they issue my season passes at the park. How much of a mess can I expect on opening day? I am assuming there will be a lot of people like me looking for their passes.
Is this going to be a problem? Long lines? Any advice on how to shorten the process.
On a related note, I see that Kings Island is opening up a week or two earlier then CP. Any way to be able to get into Kings Island prior to CP opening?
I tried to search this topic, but couldn't find any relevant threads. Thanks for any advice you can offer. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time at the Point this coming season.

I believe Season Pass Central at the Point opens mid April, before the park officially opens. If close, you could drive up and get photos and passes early. Call the park to find out exact days and time. That would solve your KI use of Platinum passes in late April.

Great Holiday gift or any kind of gift really. I get one for my sister every year and it's well worth the money.
Opening day will probably have a sizable line. As Frito said, if you live near Sandusky get them processed ahead of time.
Last year I bought my pass at Knott's and they wouldn't let me into Cedar Point because it had a picture of a black women on it. I'm not a black women. It was fixed after about 20 minutes.
If you want CP to be your "home park" you need to process your pass there, not at KI.
You can go to KI on their opening day, process your voucher there and get your pass, but it will make KI your home park. What does this mean? Well, if for example you lose your pass, you would have to back to your home park (KI) to get a new one issued.
I had this same question a few years back and ended up waiting till CP pass processing opened, as it wasn't worth the brain damage of risking KI being my home park given that it's twice as far away from me as CP.
Interesting. While I prefer CP, KI is actually an hour closer to me than CP. I live in Columbus. Our location is one of the reasons it made sense to me to purchase the Platinum Pass.
Can I redeem our passes at KI if I purchased them on the CP website? Does the KI season pass office open before KI does like CP's office?
Thanks for the great advice guys, I love this website.
In the past, you've always been able to redeem your CP pass voucher at KI, although sometimes the people at KI have to make a few phone calls to figure out what to do with it. I'm not sure when KI's pass center opens, but the park its self opens a couple of weeks before CP, so I assume their pass center would open sometime before the park does.

A few years ago, I had all three of my families CP vouchers in hand when we went to stay with a friend in South Carolina during Easter break. At Carowinds they had to basically exchange the voucher for their voucher and process the pass so their Carowinds appeared on the Platinum cards.
That got us into their park fine. A month later at KI, my daughters pass worked by my wife's and my own did not. They provided us with a day pass.
At CP same issue. But by the next vist to CP a week later they worked.
Over the next couple years we keep reloading those passes and have had issue's at KI , but not CP with the same two passes.
Well this past Fall we had the passes renewed, but CP could not find them in the system anywhere for any of the parks?!?!?
As a result we got the vouchers and the three of us will be heading up to CP in April once the Season Pass office opens. Although it was neat to have a Carowinds labelled pass it was no longer worth the hassle.
My brother and I are planning to go to Opening Day for the first time this year. Does anybody know what time the season pass center opens on Opening Day? We would like to get there early to get our season pass and get a few rides on GateKeeper during ERT.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
May 11th 2013 at 10am is when Cedar Point Opens for next year. I don't think the lines will b that long then. :)

^ HA! I hope that smiley was an expression of your sarcasm. If not, then go process your pass on Opening Day and tell me how ridiculous the line is.
Last season, the line was wrapping through the picnic pavilions to pocess your passes at about 10am. So goodluck to all who are going to do that this year. Unless you get there right when the season pass center opens.
Agreed. Once the park opens for the season, the season pass office follows the same hours as the park.
And yes, when I used to go to the front entrance on opening day I would always be amazed at the size of the pass processing line at even 9am!
Keep in mind the group sales portion of the building will be part of the Season Pass building now. Group sales will be on the right side of the entrance. So, capacity will be higher at Season Pass processing next season.

I forgot about that. Does anybody know if Hotel Breakers is available the day before the park opens? If so, I might just process my pass Friday and be ready for early entry on Saturday just in case.
You should have the answer to that soon, as I would expect online hotel reservations for 2013 to be available any day now. I'm checking regularly, in order to make all my camper village reservations.
I've been checking the same thing. I would think Breakers would be open the Friday night before opening day. Pretty sure it was this year.
There's no way I would ever try to get a season pass processed on opening day. It's worth the extra trip up to do it before the season if you are at all within driving distance.
I stayed at Breakers opening weekend a few years back. The putt-putt and go karts were running Friday night as well.

For at least as many years as I can remember in the past decade, yes, they're open the Friday night before opening day, along with Challenge Park. I typically make a habit of eating at Fridays and hitting up Ripcord on that evening.

keep an eye out on the cedar point site. they open the season pass center about a month before the park opens so they dont have huge lines of the thousands of passes on opening day. you can do it opening day but the lines would be longer so get to the park early. if you bought your season pass off the cedar point site, you have to claim your pass at cedar point. you can still use it at kings island but you have to claim it at the park where you purchased the passes. if you want to go to kings island opening day go to cedar point before and get the passes first. i had these questions the first time i got my platinum pass and this is what the park told me. hope it helps
The year Diamondback opened, I was able to redeem by CP voucher at Kings Island. They may have made an exception. But, I would think if you bought a platinum pass, it wouldn't matter where you processed.
