Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Cedar Point seems to be having a technical glitch when it comes to processing renewals. My wife and I renewed our Platinum passes at the park on Saturday. When we went to get in Sunday, the passes scanned as not valid. Basically what we were told was that our passes were showing as valid for 2013 but not for any more of 2012. Thankfully, the supervisor at the resort gate let us in so we wouldn't miss Dragster ERT, but then we had to go to the Season Pass center to figure out what was going on. Apparently this seems to happening at random with some of the renewals, and they aren't sure why or how to fix it. We were assured that all of our info and pictures were still stored in the computer, and that it should be fixed by next week, but that if it wasn't, we had to go to guest services. I'm kind of taking it on faith at this point, but plan on arriving a little earlier than normal next Sunday for early entry in case I have to mess around with this again. It kind of puts a pit in your stomach when the pass you've been using all summer scans "denied". :)
Great to know. Thanks for sharing. I almost renewed yesterday.
Just so you know, the season pass office does not usually open until *exactly* the same time as early entry. So getting there earlier than that on Sunday may not help you. I found this out the hard way one HW when I forgot my pass at home and had to have a temporary one printed each of the three days. I missed several minutes of ERT all three days for this reason.
I don't know if they were open early on Sunday because of ERT, but they were open at least 45 minutes ahead of regular early entry. I also specifically asked where we should go if it's not fixed and we were told Guest Services not the Season Pass Center, so I know it's usually open earlier. We definitely decided we will wait until after our last visit for the season to renew in future years!
Same thing happened to us. But at beginning of season. We renewed our passes online just days before going to Canad's Wonderland. Worked fine there and Dorney. Then opening weekend at CP, had the "invalid" alert. But they let us through. It was a big hassle getting it fixed.
What did they end up having to do-fix it in the computer or replace the passes? They said they might have to give us new pass cards if they couldn't get it fixed in the computer.
They had to have an IT guy take care of it. The first time we were in office, they had no clue to why it was botched. It showed on screen that payments were current but then said "invalid". They said it should be fixed by the next day. Luckily we got in with the film shoot and didn't need the pass. But Later the next day, we tried anyways and got the invalid again. Went back to office. Still no luck. Tried again the 3rd day and still wasn't fixed. The following day, I called from home and asked about it. They said it should be good now. Still had no idea what happened. They did work when we returned on our next visit.
So they let you in on the days it wasn't working, but you just had to go to guest services each day? Good to know that it got fixed eventually. The strange thing for us is that it was showing it was good for 2013 and that it was a renewal. I asked the obvious question of how it could it show as a renewal but not be valid for this season. Nobody had a good answer, lol. I guess we'll see on Sunday if it's fixed. Hopefully we at least get in the park!
The first day, which was opening day, the woman let us through anyways. The next two days we got in for Travel Channel shoot and didn't anything. I still find it odd that the passes worked fine at the other two parks before going to CP (which is where they were renewed through), and then not be valid at our home park.
