While at the park yesterday, I decided to go back to the season pass center before leaving to buy a lanyard, figuring it would be a safer spot for my card than in my pocket. (Call me paranoid, but I lost a phone last year on Magnum in a pocket that even had a flap on it). When I got off the causeway, I noticed that they didn't give my the plastic cast that attaches to the end in which to put the card. Does anybody know if they were supposed to and forgot or do they expect you to find those yourself? If I need to buy one myself, any ideas where I'd look? If you usually get one there, I'll go back and ask for one when I return on Sunday.
I'll never use one of those ever.
Had one at Disney on our honeymoon and had everything (drivers licenses and resort id's) fly out on Space Mountain on the night before we were to leave. I don't know if these secure better than the lanyard I had at Disney, but I will never trust them to hold anything important ever again.
What really sucked about it happening at Disney is that then I couldn't even get a drink with dinner to calm my nerves. Thankfully, after dinner we headed out to the bar where the bartender who had been serving us all week was working and we didn't have to worry about it. Nothing sucks more than needing a drink and not being able to get it.

Wow! That would really ruin a vacation. The drink situation only makes it worse!
Unless the are really secure, I'll do the same thing I do with my car keys. I keep the keys in my pocket and then loop the end of the lanyard around a belt loop as a back up plan for my pocket. At least if they fall out, they stay attached to me. If I feel my pockets aren't deep enough that day, I put them in the loose article bins. I just find that they're easier to find/grab with something like the lanyard.
I know it's geeky, but I use a fanny pack. I don't care how geeky it seems, I've never lost anything at any park. Or, I keep it in a locker. This year, things like my license will stay in our hotel room, since we won't be driving between the park & hotel.
Looking forward to Cedar Point- July 4th-5th, 2007!
We almost got beaned by a cell phone flying off Raptor at about 9:45AM OD. The really wierd thing was we were almost hit by an inhaler at the same spot last year. Must be the turn there.
I have the boys use pockets that zip on their pants (cargo style). The flaps aren't really secure.
randi <><
Peace Love Hope
I also go with zipping cargo pants. They have always worked to hold my phone, wallet, and stuff like that. Last year I even managed to cram two on-ride pics into my zipper pockets.:)
It would be helpful if I could find shorts/pants with cargo pockets, but being a skinny size 3 girl, it can be hard to find shorts with very big cargo pockets. Pants, yes, but I hate to wear long pants on 80 degree days.
Zipping cargo pants definitly the way to go. I take some plastic sandwich-size zip-lock bags for camera, cash, and cell phone for water rides. Try Kohl's. Large variety of zip-cargos.

i never buy lunch in the park. instead we bring our food and watch the blue streak in the shelter for lunch. while getting the food out of the van, our passes go into the van and that works quite well for us.

Lanyards and fanny packs, eh? Do you guys have pocket protectors for your pens too? :)
What's the problem with a wallet or money clip in your pocket? I just don't understand the need to carry around your entire life at an amusement park.
The only place that I can recall seeing them is at the gift shop near Top Thrill Dragster. They are hanging up on the wall behind the counter.

I don't carry my "world" around with me. I carry cash to buy stuff. Wallets (as people have said here) can get lost, or go flying at the least expected moment.
Sorry if we're not "cool" enough for you.

I just don't understand how losing a wallet happens. On every ride except Mantis, you're sitting on it.
The only thing I carry is my season pass, a small amount of cash and my car keys. The essentials, but they are just that-essentials and I don't want to lose them. I also don't know how my phone last year got out of pocket (with a flap) from under the lap bar on Magnum but it happened. You get bumped around, just the right air time and the lap bar pushing down and stuff can pop right out.
I got some shorts at Target 2 years ago that have a zippered pocket so my wallet, keys and phone are in that pocket while I am at a park. I also liked them because instead of a regular belt it came with an adjustable belt that you pulled like a seatbelt. Unfortunately I have not seen them last year or this year and would have liked to have gotten some more since they were only $12.

I agree. In the 17+ years I have been carrying a wallet to an amusement park, I have never had it come close to coming out of my pocket.
Yah, I been carrying wallets to so not really sure on this. I know my cousin punched a hole in her pass but not sure if they do that. *** Edited 5/16/2007 3:58:46 AM UTC by cmkbabie***

Fanny Packs? What's wrong with Fanny Packs?
What about all those "Pick Pocketers" you see all the time in the news. Just a slight bump against one of those people, and a wallets comes out of the back pocket quickly. I know, fanny packs can get stolen too.
What about all those "Family People" who may need to hold children things. Baby Wipes, for those messy little tikes. Tissues for the runny noses. Camera's for the ones who never been to the park, or who just want to document some of their day.
Fanny Packs are wonderful. All I show up with are my Keys, Wallet with Money, and a Cell Phone.
My Kids use it for their wallets, money, their glasses when they don't want to loose 'em on one of the big rides, even though they have straps to hold their glasses on.
I Fill the fanny packs with, Change, Little Cedar Point Pins, and who knows what else will fit in that little pouch throughout the day.
I don't want all my pockets full of things, or have someone hold my stuff so I can ride a ride. Zipper Fanny Packs are great! :)
GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
