I was curious about the screamsters...I've been studying up on the screamsters back stage through the Funcoast.com website...I ran across the 2006 screamsters and backstage makeup artists photos there on the website and so my question is...Do screamsters wear the same costume/masks each year? Also do the same professional makeup artists come back each year to do up the faces and costums for the screamsters..just curious because it looks like fun to create the scary faces and such...any info would be greatly appreciated..thanks and if anyone could post some pics of the backstage fun here, I would appreciate that as well!

The CoasterBuzz event "Boo Buzz" will include a tour of the Halloweekends costume shop in the Good Times Theater. We did this last year too. If your not a member, you can attend as a guest of a member. But considering a CoasterBuzz membership also gets you ad-free service and access to CoasterMania and other cool events, the $20 membership is a small price to pay. :)

Typically we have the same masks, costumes and makeup artists year after year. Of course, every year there are some people, both screamsters and artists, that don't come back, so there can be a little bit of shuffling around. Usually masks are given out based on face type/shape, so that's a large part of the reason why the same person usually has the same mask every year. Plus you just get addicted to your character. Sometimes people will change characters if there is a character that doesn't come back that they really liked. This year I moved from Fright Zone to Fear Faire. I still have the same mask, but I'm working on creating a new character.
Oh, and our makeup artists totally rock. :)

I talked to John Hildabrandt this saturday and he said that his wife helps paint makeup on screamsters.
Yes, Mr. Hildebrant's wife is one of our makeup artists. He comes to see us in the costume shop quite often as well, always with good things to say about the job we've been doing. It's a big morale booster to know the upper management appreciates the job we're doing.
As for me, I do like Fright Zone for it's perfect natural setting. However, Fear Faire isn't bad. Returners usually get a choice, but I believe new people are usually assigned to whatever zone needs them.

It is, without a doubt, the greatest job in the world.. The makeup artists are some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. A few of them used to be Screamsters but moved on and upwards. Some people just can't get it out of their systems and keep coming back.
.. just remember this Hollywood.. Never.. and I mean NEVER say you'll work for free in an interview.. no matter how much you love the job.. Some people just won't ever let you live it down...
