It's an S&S Screamin' Swing going in DD's place for 2006.
I know I don't have a lot of pull or experience around here, but I have an inside source, so trust me on this one.
Hmmm....I can't say I completely believe you, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Do you have any specifics, such as seating capacity, height, etc.?
Coaster Count: 147
Does this mean that DD is definately going to be sold, or just if it does get sold?
I'd like to see a Screamin' Swing but its definately not going to be the same without DD
No. I'm sorry but I don't... which kills my credibility, I know. I was told that CP would be getting a 'swing ride'. I commented that Knotts had just put in a Screamin' Swing and they said 'yeah, that's it'. I showed them a picture and they confirmed thats what it was.
I don't believe that a source who knows so little as too have to see a picture to know for sure would be credible.
No. I mentioned that Knotts got one and they were sure at that point. I did the picture to be extra sure. Added security, so to speak.
Demon Drop is for sale. If it is sold, it will be removed, if there are no buyers it will stay. There has been a lot of talk about a Screamin Swing coming, but many think if one does come it will go into the Challenge Park as an extra fee attraction since the capacity is low. The possibilities of new attractions and locations for them are endless.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know.
For all we know Deamon Drop could be standing there this time next year.

Just throwin' things out here...
According to Kennywood's site, their swing has a capacity of 32/ride (maxair is 50), and 650 - 750 PPH, 250 - 350 less than maxair according to CP's site. I haven't been to CP this year, so I don't know first hand, but how have the lines been for maxair? If they've been able to move people in-n-out, I guess they'd leave the swing as a normal ride, not a Challenge Park attraction. The numbers aren't that far off from maxair.
On one hand, it would kind of make sense to put something like a swing in DD's spot... no need to do a number on parking, no extra work to move out to the beach (or where ever else they might go) for a big coaster, and if you look at the size stats for Kennywood's swing, it would almost fit like a glove in the spot.
On the other hand, doesn't it seem a little too much like maxair? Back & forth swinging ride, but without the spinning? Hmm. It would be cool if it were some super-tall, faster than greased lightning swing, something like "TTD meets Ocean Motion," but other than that, I'd be pretty bummed if they remove a classic for "Maxair II - Spin-Me-Not."
Again, just throwin' things out.
When I went to the Point both times this year, the lines for maXair were actually longer than you would think IMO. It took a long time for everyone to unload, load people back in, and then they have to wait for the spiel to go through and check the restraints 2 times. I dont think that they get as many people per hour as they posted. On a weekend the line usually goes outside the railings and is a pretty long wait (worth it if ya ask me).
I guess it does seem sort of like the same kind of experience but if it's a good size fit then they might as well.
I really can't get over how gullible some of you are. If there is a press release next week that says a screaming swing is coming, even Spenceman will be surprised. Nobody knows what is being placed in Deamon Drops foot print.

Yes he knows but he isn't talking at the moment.

On Maxair the line could be all the way to Chaos and its about a 30 minutes line and about this Screaming Swing, why would they put one so close to MaXair.
2005 Season- 5 visits
maXair- 4 Spins
Dragster- 36 and ONE ROLLBACK
From what I read, if Demon Drop does not get sold, it will not be removed.
October 13 - Finally!
Top Thrill Dragster - 15
Millennium Force - 15
I guess this proves that if nothing else, Screamscape is AWESOME at starting rumors. And even though I've never been on a screamin swing, I have gone on its fairground cousin (we called it the "Salt and Pepper Shakers"). I hope to GOD they don't put one in, especially in place of Demon Drop.
Goodbye MrScott

Or, they could dismantle it and store it somewhere. Kinda like PKI has done with King Kobra.
I've done some talking some other reliable sources that confirm Cedar Point will be getting a Screamin' Swing. It seems, however, that I may be wrong on location. Either way, Cedar Point will be getting one for 2006 along with another CF park as well...
