In one of my classes at school we have to pick a job and write a fake cover letter to them as if we were trying to get an interview. What I am wondering is what college degrees would you need to work for the planning and design department for CP or any other parks? What experience would you need? It is call plan and design, right?
I was going to do marketing or something like that, but I figured Tony had that locked up tight for a long time. ;)
Thanks for the help...
Let's Get Weird.
Awesome! Well, I can imagine there are a variety of degrees that would help you to "get a job" in the planning and designing departments, but any of the following may help: Business Administration; City and Regional Planning; Civil Engineering; Computer and Information Science; Computer Science and Engineering (my personal reccomendation); Environmental Policy and Management; Industrial and Systems Engineering; International Business Administartion; Logistics Management (my second choice); and/or Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Do a double-major. :)
As for experience, I'd list something along the lines of previously working at the park of your choice (for 3 or 4 summers, aka while at college), then moving into a mid-management role at Kalahari, Great Wolf, Six Flags, Hilton, Sheraton, etc. Some place that involved dealing with the public that is not CF. Then move on to a upper-level management position, like a Director of Planning and Developing or something.
You would be moving laterly across the parks, but if your teacher asks you in a "fake" interview, say that you really loved "working" at CF and believe that you now have the tools to work in a different division, utilizing your skills and experiences.
Hope this helps!
I'd throw architecture into the mix. When I was in high school I spent a day shadowing an architect who worked in CP's planning and design.
