Scheduled down time: Early Saturday, 5/22/10

PointBuzz (and CoasterBuzz) will be down early Saturday, starting around 1 a.m. Eastern (10 p.m. Pacific). I'm not sure how long, but most people will likely be sleeping during most of the time.

Upgrading to some shiny new server hardware. Since the site is "interactive," and the data needs to be moved as one atomic unit, I'm taking the path of least resistance and just turning it off to move it.

Damn. Now what am I going to do.

Is this the upgrade you have been talking about? The one you needed a few more members to pay for?

Yeah... I'm about half way there on members, but I got had a good deal and an over-configured server, so it was pretty hard to pass up.

Move to the new server is complete at about 1:40am Eastern, though it may have appeared down longer for you as your DNS updated. If you experience anything weird, do let me know!

That was quick. I came on this morning wondering why I was logged out. Then I remembered. :)

Yeah, one of my clever friends at work came up with an obvious way to get most stuff moved before the actual switch, and it worked like a charm. It's funny because this new box would have to be pressed pretty hard even to break a sweat.
