SBNO

If a roller coaster is SBNO for a certant length of time does it ever lose it's world record. hence

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

If your talking about KK, it is either open now or opening within the week. I don't know if they finished testing.

You still didn't answer my question.

What does sbno mean?

Standing But Not Operating SBNO

I would assume if a coaster is SBNO(or just not operating) for an entire calendar year that guiness probably wouldn't consider it for a world record.

Who cares?

Maybe they do?

101 on Magnum and counting...

Apparently so...

Let's try that again: why should any of *us* care how Guiness determines a record?

I can think of at least three coasters off the top of my head that I'd rather ride instead of Dragster, and they're at Cedar Point. I could probably come up with another half-dozen (at least) at other parks that also rank higher. So what if some coaster a day's drive away is 40 feet taller than the (at best) #4 coaster at CP?

Worrying about this makes even less sense than worrying about how, say, the BCS chooses the two teams that play for the "national championship."

Kingda Ka has the record it had it media day and was open to the public for riding for a couple weeks. It will be opening again soon. But yes a coaster can loose its record Steel Dragon in Japan lost its record from being down for so long and still not running. they keep it in the books but put a star by it to let you know it does not run. like i have said before it sucks that we dont have the tallest and fastest but we have the Best Stratacoaster on the planet.

Could it be that this is attributed to Cedar Point's attention to detail in all aspects of running the park, including maintenance? Just how good of a job are the "trench diggers" doing? Word up!

The Poster formerly known as "Dougster."

All I care about is that I have the 2004 edition of the Guinness Book of World records that shows Dragster as the tallest and fastest coaster.
But isn't Steel Dragon 2000 SBNO? I remember hearing somewhere that the coaster is not opening because of superstition reasons. Well....I don’t call "not performing proper maintenance on the trains for weeks on end" superstition; I call it laziness !! :)

Steel Dragon 2000 is SBNO. For a coaster to be labelled it has to be standing not operating with no intentions, or what look like no intentions, of being fixed. An example would be Flashback at SFMM, but in that case it may not be broken, it just doesn't run.

The question you asked was obviously just a mask to what your real question was, so I just went ahead and answered your real question. Kingda Ka beat Dragsters record. End of story.

Kingda Ka also has the worst restrains for a strata. Just check it out at rcbd. Im sure many more people will be injured by that ride than Dragster. O and I feel that riding KK would be no different than Dragster because you reach 128 so fast you cant tell the difference of 8mph. Does TTD or MF FEEL like a faster ride?

Everyone rag on KK! :)
