I am going to Cedar Point tomorrow and am staying at Sandcastle Suites for the first time. Is there anything that I should be concerned with staying there?
I was just reading some of the hotel reviews and am now scared.
I value the opinions of people here at PB and feel that I would get honest feedback.
Thank you all in advance.

Sandcastle Suites is ok. I did have a bad experience 3 years ago when the front desk staff did not feel like getting me more towels. However, my sister stayed there a month ago and their room was ready by 9:00am and they had no problems. Hope this helps.

How many hotels did you need? Sounds like you were being a bit greedy....
....unless you were asking for more towels.
Like ANY hotel, the staff attention to detail is going to make it or break if for you. If you aren't happy with something, reasonably explain that to a staff person...or a manager if it is that serious.
I will tell you from experience that the people that treated me and my staff with respect got that same respect in return. The people that were miserable SOBs didn't get much from me.

It is ok. My only complaint about them are the air conditioners. It was HOT outside and it was coolish warm in our room and flat out warm in my brothers room. The A/C's at the breakers east and towers will freeze you. We were there this past week and we had to shut the air off at times because it got too cold.
I did walk by sandcastle and noticed they did some renovations. It is a yellowish color and also looks like they re-did the balconies also. I have no clue if they renovated the rooms.
I wouldn't be scared though, you are there for the park anyways.
I was also impressed with the bell boys or whatever you call them, they literally emptied my car, i never had to touch a thing, and we had ALOT of crap. It was my wife, my step son, my mom and dad, and my 4 month old twins for 6 nights at breakers east. It was alot of money, but i would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Such a great time!

I dont remember much about the hotel but we got there at about midnight went into our room and found that someone had left something gross in our toilet. It was really disgusting but it was ok otherwise.

I think my post will be too late for kbp1972, but I figured I would post it anyway for anyone else who will be staying at Sandcastle Suites in the future. The rooms appear to have new wall entertainment centers along with new TV's. I can't be totally certain they are new because I have never stayed there, but they are a huge upgrade over the 1970's TV stands you see in the pictures. They also upgraded the exterior of the buildings and balconies, which was a pleasant surprise when we got there. The refrigerator and microwave looked fairly new as well and I did not see all of the dirt and filth in the rooms that has been reported on the internet.
All in all, I was very impressed with the place. I had read so many "horror stories" on the internet about it and I have to say everything negative that I read was false. The staff was super fast checking us in with four people in front of us, which can't be said about the Lighthouse Point check in system which took me about an hour with only five people in front of me. I don't think it's the employees at LHP, but rather the system.
LHP Cottages are still my #1 CP resort, can't beat those decks, but Sandcastle is a very worthy #2. By the way we stayed in the Magnum Wing with a pool view. The pool view is the "moneyseat" at Sandcastle.
I made it here and I think I will stick with Breakers Towers & Breakers East. The air conditioner in my 1st room was broken so now I have a great (sarcasm) 1st floor room with a great view of the parking lot.
Thanks to everyone for the info.

Yep! My only complaint was the A/C, and look what happened. :)

If you scroll down a little you can see some pics of the room and the exterior of the building. These are new pics. Yeah I know it's late to post but oh well.
From reviewing all the reviews on the above post, it appears that CP should put a little money into rectifying this. The refurb looks to be only cosmetic. Knowing what a family cabin is like after sitting dormant all winter on the lake, I can only imagine that they are dealing with the same musty mold issues and insect problems.
I think it is a full service hotel in name only.
When I arrived there yesterday my room wasn't ready yet and of course I had all of my luggage with me. When I asked if I could check my bags like I have dozens of times at Breakers the woman at the front desk looked at me like I had three heads and said"we dont do that here don't you have a car"
As I said in my Previous post Breakers here I come!

The hotel was better than the Bon Air and Main Section of Breakers but couldn't touch the Towers section or Breakers East.

It's just so weird, I never ever hear good things about SS, for anyone who has stayed there recently, is it really that bad?
Sandcastle is nice but it isn't "full service". Part of that is perception. There is no "in hotel" restaurant and Breakwater isn't even "attached" via a covered walkway. That alone would go a long way to making things a little better.
As for a luggage room, we did check bags some years ago so I don't know why they wouldn't do that now. There isn't a lot of room for it but it isn't impossible.
You also have no gameroom, exercise room, etc. Breakers has a lot more "activity" than Sandcastle. But, if you like it a little quieter then Sandcastle is your place. The views from the upper floors are great whether you are facing the lake or the bay.
From online pictures I've seen it appears they have done some work both internally and externally to upgrade the property.
