I take exception to almost everything VanAtta said. The linen cleaning at Cedar Point resorts is no different than most any other hotel property. I know of few, if any, hotels that clean bed spreads and blanket on more than a once a month basis. Disney only does their comforters/blankets once a month...if that. And, I assure you that is a fact. That is the standard in the industry. Don't like it? Don't stay in a hotel. Sheraton and Westin hotels are NO different in that regard.
Chemicals are used in the bathrooms and carpeting is cleaned (as opposed to vacummed) as necessary. The rooms do get trashed once in a while...thanks to some guests...but every effort is made to get them clean again. Are there shortcuts and some things missed? Yes. And in that case you should speak to housekeeping to get those things corrected.
Andrew...I suggest you never stay in any hotel rooms b/c you have unrealistic expectations. I'd rather stay in a Cedar Point resort than take a cruise. THOSE are horror stories.

Andrew, I thought you had got a little picked on in the other thread awhile back & felt bad for you, but you do sound rather smug here. I WILL enjoy my stay at Breakers as I always do, understanding that no hotel washes the comforters between guests (we throw them off immediatly) & that if a blacklight were used in any hotel it would probably not look pretty.
I LOVE the rotunda & the nostalgic, genteel feel of the place. Our rooms in the tower have always been clean & although it really isn't a true "resort" experience, I love that old hotel. It's from a day of charming, family oriented lakeside hotels that some newer resorts try to mimic. Although I agree that the BonAir section needs torn down, & it could use some sprucing here & there, it hardly warrents a "tear it down" mentality. As I've stated before it should offer more ammenities for what they are charging, but I would proudly take friends/family there to share my happy place with.

You know what.... I really dont get the posts on pointbuzz sometimes... I honestly fail to see what was 'smug' about my post... I said that I spent a day cleaning at the breakers, reported my observations about the hotel and their 'cleaning practices', and informed people if they plan to stay there to t least be aware of what the conditions are like.... HOW IS THAT SMUG???
Chief Wahoo... You say you "take exception to almost everything said." And yet you then affirm virtually everything that I said... I said the blankets are not cleaned regualry... you said the same thing... You said that is standard in the industry including disney... I said "at Disney World... its not really any better... you just pay twice as much for the same diseased rooms that look nicer without a microscope or a black light" finally you said "Andrew...I suggest you never stay in any hotel rooms b/c you have unrealistic expectations." I had previous stated that "sadly I suspect most hotel rooms are the same way so now I take my own linens with me when I stay in hotels." How is this 'in exception' to my post?
As for having 'unrealistic expectations'... I do not believe that expecting a very expensive hotel room to be kept as clean and sanitary as my own home is unreasonable... it ought to be the law (and it probablly is... i'm not a lawyer so perhaps someone who is could find out...?)
Good Grief... You said "I thought you had got a little picked on in the other thread awhile back & felt bad for you, but you do sound rather smug here. I WILL enjoy my stay at Breakers as I always do, understanding that no hotel washes the comforters between guests (we throw them off immediatly) & that if a blacklight were used in any hotel it would probably not look pretty." Again... how do I come off as smug??? I said "its disgusting, so for all of you who have reservations at the breakers, have a good nights sleep in your filthy rooms..." You just statetd that you will stay at the breakers with the expectation that the room will not be cleaned to a standard at which you would feel comfortable using half of the bedding and that it is likely there are unseen dirt issues in the room... How does that differ from what I said???
So, as I asked at the beginning of this post, how is that 'smug'? I do not send personal insults to people... I try to maintain a clean dialogue free of profanity, personal insults, or unfounded statements. I work to humble myslef on this fourm... yet everytime I say anything, it is either rejected, rebuked, or reviled. I have only posted or spoken from personal experiences, be that driving a car or cleaning hotel rooms for 8 hours for charity... I put my observations out there for people to read and digest and then they are welcome to make their own choices as they see fit. If that is how 'smug' is now defined then I am proud to be so... If you really want some 'smug' I would recommend reading some of the posts out there on priuschat.com and then anything I post here would definitely not seem 'smug' by comparison... ::sigh:: This was definitely how I wanted to start my day...

Andrew, you seem to be a nice guy. I don't wish to give you a hard time. It just sounded harsh to say, "have a good nights sleep in your filthy rooms". That is where in your post I felt sounded smug. Maybe it sounds harsh because I DO love the place, so I feel I must defend it. What I was saying was that there is not a single hotel out there that I trust to be near as clean as I would like, just as you feel. But barring going out & buying a camper (or crashing in on Loopy ;)), I'm stuck with that realization, but still love that hotel. So we agree on some things overall & I hope you have a great day :) Peace

so for all of you who have reservations at the breakers, have a good nights sleep in your filthy rooms...
To second Randi, that is was came off as smug. As in you came off as if you feel superior because you don't stay at Breakers and others do. When you say that, it is directed at some people, even though it's not by name.
I'm sure, or at least I'm hoping that you don't really feel that way, but that's just how it was read. ;)
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
