Salt Water Taffy?

Is it just me, or did CP change the salt water taffy flavors? I remember each piece being a solid color, but this year some of the pieces are a swirl of two colors. Some of the new flavors are OK, but the green and brown candy is nasty. Also, at least when I was there, they did not let you choose what flavors you wanted, you had to take whatever they gave you.

They have experimented with combo flavors for a couple of years. Some work, some don't. I think the green & brown is supposed to be chocolate-mint. Mint works really well in taffy, but I think chocolate is a bit weak.

I usually get a pre-boxed assortment, but I suppose you could as for a box of all one flavor.

The company that used to make CPs classic Taffey is still around, though I forget the web address.

Coffelt's taffy is based out of Springfield, OH, I believe. They were the taffy makers that most of us remember, back when those lovely machines would pull the taffy right in front of you.

I bumped into Coffelt's taffy at Six Flags over Texas several years ago, and almost died! I think they're also at Six Flags in Chicago. Someone also told me to check them out at the August classic, The Ohio State Fair, but I can't verify that.

And it's been several years, but the gentleman at SFTexas working the booth said that supposedly Cedar Point and Coffelt's were trying to work out a deal so that Coffelt's could return. I can see that hasn't happened, but we can always hope! I wouldn't give you a dime for that mass-produced glob of corn sweetener that CP tries to pass off as taffy. Bring back Coffelt's!!
Thanks for the info. I knew something had changed, the taffy just doesn't taste like it used to. I had forgotten about the taffy machines. I hope they do bring back the original company.
