Safety in line for Wicked Twister

I was at Cp on10/4 and while in line for WT a rider's camera fell off of them while coming down the back spike and nearly hit a guy in line, It was funny at the time but what if it actually hit someone in the head? I think CP needs to put canopy over the whole line to prevent this from happening in the future.

Or, they can tell people not to bring loose articles on the ride (as they currently do).

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Not everybody follows the rules, should people in line be jepordized because somebody didn't follow the rules, I think not.

I'm not too concerned about falling articles, the line is covered where it goes under the track. What they need to do is pave over the sand between the station and the first support. When the wind is blowing the right way, I've gotten a face full of sand kicked up by the passing train. Not fun.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think it would be really interesting to see Cedar Point sue a guest for bringing loose articles on rides if it actually caused damage to someone/something else. More than likely CP will get sued by the injured guest so why not get your money back from that guests. The reprecussions (sp?) of that mentality would not be that great.

Or just charge them for breaking the Ohio Rider Responsibility law. No need to make it civil when it's already criminal.

What time does the water show start?

Good point...

I agree that the person broke the rules, but what about the person who nearly got hit in the head with a camera. The person was standing near the freeway merge point, which is not covered by a canopy. Granted that the person who dropped the camera broke the rules. but I hope that standing in the line that I am safe.

Would it be considered assault if somebody's non-secured item injured another person?

I would say that it may be considered negligence caused by the rider. In turn the rider would be criminally responsible (Ohio Law) and civally responsible because of not following that law. If the person actually got hit by the object enough to kill him it would be considered manslaughter wouldn't it?

Not what this topic was intended for, but the exact same cover that protects people in the queue under the structure is also in place under the front spike. I don't know why they'd bother to put this in unless they were trying to protect the concrete from falling objects....or maybe the falling objects from the concrete. Anybody have an idea?

when i worked over at power tower they had the same problem and everyone always thought (and still do) that they should completely cover any areas where people are to protect from falling objects. but what about dragster? when something flies off of there it lands on the midway, in camp snoopy, paddlewheel, and anywhere else the winds blow.

when we would catch a guest with something on the ride that they are not supposed to have we just yell at them. i think they need to make an example out of somebody to keep stuff off of the rides. its just a pain in the butt.

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this, but the covering where the line passes under the track looks as if it has some dents in it, as if something has hit it at 72 mph. Looks like it was a good safety idea...

Legally, if anything were to strike a guest waiting for a ride, it would come back to the park getting the blame for not protecting the guest. Sad, but true.

Ya know what? I ve actually had experience with that before and ouch! Something actually got me right in the eye waiting in line. People gave me alot of weird looks for holding my eye and claiming something fell out of the sky. I certainly agree they should cover the entire waitning area especially all the times when I also had to wait out in the rain
