Rumored Maverick Retracking

^Fair, though for a roll like this, there's not substantial horizontal loading on the supports. So maybe they could be creative in terms of the support structure such that they're leveraging existing footers. As others have said, it's entirely plausible, if not likely, that none of this happens. But I also don't think it's as unrealistic as it may seem at first glance.

Why would a financially strapped company put so much into a ride that is already adored by their guests to make a few dozen enthusiast wet dreams come true?

I’d argue that Maverick already has strong brand recognition. It’s been around for nearly 20 years and is still just as popular as it was when it opened in 2007. If they market this the right way—positioning it as a beloved ride getting a wild new element that should’ve always been there—it won’t just excite coaster enthusiasts. I think it would draw in a much wider audience.

On top of that, this would be a relatively low-cost move compared to building an entirely new attraction. In theory, it feels like a no-brainer, especially for one of the highest-revenue parks in the chain.

I disagree. I think enthusiasts give the general public too much credit on if they'd even recognize that the ride was different aside from a new paint job. You'd get a lot of ' that wasn't always there?' from the folks that only go once every couple years

If the lines for Maverick were regularly thin, I'd see this as slightly plausible, but the last in doesn't seem to be the case.

Also, the same enthusiasts will eat it up will be the same ones latet saying how much of a gimmick it is. I just don't see the value (full disclosure: it's one of my favorites - so maybe that skews my cynicism.)

I wouldn’t discount the general public. Maverick having consistently long lines for nearly 20 years says a lot, especially since the ride looks fairly unassuming compared to the taller coasters.

Also, can we all agree that if this did happen, it would be a pretty awesome addition? I doubt it actually will, but I don’t think it’s as far-fetched or as bad of an idea as some are making it out to be.

It might happen. I also suspect its a much bigger undertaking than some folks here assume
