Rude Workers

I know Cp has a wonderful staff of people, but there is that .1% of people that work there that are not so nice. When i recently went there, the wait sign for MF said a 1/2 hr., but the line didnt look like a 1/2 hr. long. So I asked the guy w/ the stick if it was still a 1/2 hr. and he says no, we put up the wrong times so stupid people like you can ask dumb questions. I thought that was very rude. Oh, by the way, I got in line and waited at least an hour. I was wondering if you guys had and experiences like this at CP? Oh, and the Mantis people weren't all so nice either.

If you ever need me, I'll be at The Elephant Ear stand, or on Mean Streak.
I did when I went, the sign for White Water Landing said 1 1/2 hr. wait. I stile got in line and I was on and off in 30 min. I think they do that just to make people not want to ride there ride or some thing.

And your POINT is...
I guess it all depends on what someone thinks is rude. If you ask me, about 30% of the workers at CP are rude. And I don't mean to single out just CP employees it really is the whole world but that's what this post is about. #1- It's very rare that I hear "Thank You". We are the ones paying their salary (or lack there of) for them to get us our drinks or prepare our food. We are the consumer therefor they should be thanking us. #2- However, since it's rare I hear thank you I take it upon myself to say it. And guess what, even more rare to hear "your welcome". Maybe I'm making a bigger deal then it really is but these little things say a lot about a person and a company. And I have had similar responses like the one you got. Some of which, if I was a impulsive person, would get a person punched right in the nose. But, I'll live with it I guess so I can ride the best coasters in the world.
No I havnt experianced anything like that. But to bring up a more happier subject. I have had employees who have been very nice to me. One time I was getting a pop from a the machines by Power Station and my dollar just didnt seem like it wanted to go in. So a worker came up to me and gave me one of her dollars and asked me to see if hers worked, it did and I gave her my dollar in exchange for hers. I was suprised by the fact that she did that. Just another reason why I love Cedar Point.

Awww, Never had a bad experience yet, but geez @
the rude workers. Maybe it was just a bad day or something..
Anyhow , My first time on Millennium Force I was really scared and a making a little huffy scene..The guy who came to check my lap bar (LOL, he didn't have to push it done none..I litterally stapled myself purposly..Hah, How that has changed)He winked at me and said don't worry it's
an amazing ride and after the first hill you'll be fine. I thought it was really nice!
Somebody on Blue Streak was really rude to me the other day. I was already stapled really bad, the he yelled at me and told me to slouch lol.
most of the workers here are not that bad...I would have to say that those who do not deserve to be here are mostly weeded out of the whole program all together. Sorry that happened to you while you were bording Millennium Force and I was really disappointed to see that coming from a guest that was preparing to board the ride that I work. Most of the time you have to remember that we are asked the same three or four quesitons all the time and with lack of sleep and long hours these can tend to be very annoying if you are not used to it. 99% of the time our signs for rides are correct but there are some circumstances that do not allow us to get to the sign in order to change the wait timer. Once again I am sorry that someone on the crew was rude to you and on behalf of the Millennium Force crew I sincerley apologize!

Some of you have to remember that these workers don't just go there a day or a week for a trip. They live there for a whole summer. So if they seem cranky, don't take that as being rude.

As for the worker at the MF gate, I'm sure the reason he said that was because he was sick of hearing that same question the whole day...let alone the whole summer! I don't think it was called for, but you should put yourself in their shoes. Ask Jo about the, "Am I tall enough?" question that 1 out of every 7 people say before getting on the ride. Everyone has their breaking point, and the guy was probably letting off some steam.

I'm sure it would be nice to here a thank you from every employee that servers you, but once again put yourself in their shoes...they may have just forgotten to say it, with all the thousands of people they serve a day.

I'm not saying all employees are "bad" because many of them are helpful and courteous, however, everyone has their bad days.
You can have bad days, but you just have to find the right time to blow off steam. Telling a customer off (which in your mind seems like a good idea) is not the best thing to do. You ALWAYS have time to let off a little steam elsewhere. Your getting paid to suck it up a bit. How can anyone apply for the job at CP and not expect to sit out in the sun for hours?
Trust me, you can hold it in, this was 5 years of fast food service talking hearing the same stupid questions over and over. Oh yah, the foods people have it the worst :) My heart goes out to you
I was at CP in June (forgot the date) and everyone was extremely nice (espically our waitress in Midway Market... I really wish I could remember her name)... I was at SF just a week later, and their sevice could stand to be improved.
I know what I'm talking about, I'm a cashier who's gotten complaints because I either a) haven't smiled or b) Forgot to say thank you.
A lot of times the customers are looking for something to complain about.

Even on days I didnt feel like it I always tried to return a smile to the guests. At entrance I always said "hi" or "good morning" or something to acknowledge the guests. I always tried to say "enjoy your ride" to the guests when I checked their seatbelt and harness-that always shocked them. Hearing the SAME questions/remarks 10000x a day was horrible..but all in all I did strive to be sure I made a good impression. After all, working at CP is my "fun" job!! :)

We only ran across one food stand worker who wasn't very happy (getting popcorn into the box was a challenge that I wished I hadn't witnessed), but overall the workers we encountered Friday were WONDERFUL!! BIG KUDOS to the Magnum crew who stopped us about 3 feet after we started 'cause some moron in the 2nd car unbuckled his belt after being checked. Very alert attendants - makes me feel very safe and happy to be at CP. (I don't need any CPSC regulations - that crew proved it to me!)
Is there an echo? ;)
About the entrance signs. People mess with them, adn there isn't a wholoe lot we can do about it. But, if you read carefully, it says, 'From this point the wait is approximately...' People do think it's funny to change a 15 minute wait to 2 and a half hours though, and if there isn't an entrance osition on the ride, we can't do much to stop it from happening.
If somebody said something to the effect "so stupid people like you will ask questions" at Disney and the guest complained the employee would be in some serious trouble. He might not get fired but he might end up working at the laundry.

There is no excuse, not even a long day, for that type of behavior.
The guy at the entrance was definitely out of line, however, complaining to his supervisor or Park Op would be far more effective than mentioning it here.

A little context on the food service folks would be helpful: if there were just a few folks in line, they should be saying thank you, but if there were crowds of people ten deep trying to buy food I can certainly understand 'please' and 'thank you' and 'you're welcome' falling by the wayside.

I much agree, slithernoggin. A good friend of mine used to work at Transport refreshments - when things are really packed and lines are long, guests seem to prefer fast service and a shorter wait over vocal niceties.
I was there in early June, and all CP employees were great. Going back the end of Aug, should be interesting to see if the summer "has wore on them"

I didn't know you couldn't say thank you while money is exchanging hands. Most people are capable of performing two tasks at once. And I can understand the fact of getting tired and sick of the same thing all day long. Like I said, I may be making a big deal out of nothing. Just a pet-peeve of mine I guess. However, if I acted the way some of the employees act, not only CP employees (speaking generaly) I would have complaints a mile high and people ready to string me up (just the nature of my job I guess). But once again, I overlook these things so I can ride the best coasters in the world. One thing I do have to point out, I have never seen employees at CP act in an unsafe manner, which is the most important thing of all.
