RRC newsgroup (rec.roller-coaster) debate continue

As a long time lurker on this site and with my recent move to the Sandusky area I thought, what a better time to join then now? So I would like to say hi to everyone now:)

The most recent discussion going on at the newsgroup, rec.roller-coaster is related to 'certain' membes who continue to break park rules by bringing cameras and camcorders onto coasters, standing up on coasters while they are in motion and the latest as of today was regarding 'Coaster Alley Convergence 2004'. Apparently yet another park has now decided to basically cancel coaster enthusiast outings for next year because of what happened with the death earlier this year not to mention the folks who continue to break park rules, which puts their safety as well as other park guests safety at risk.

I'm not going to mention any names here but anyone who has been around online for a while and visits coaster sites probably knows who I'm talking about. There is now a message on their website that says as of today, they are not going to post onride pictures or POV video on their site anymore because they are being "witch hunted" and that their site is being "policed" and they don't appreciate it. Yet they are two of the people who continue to break rule after rule after rule.

I'm curious to know what you Ohio guys and gals think about this with regards to the parks in Ohio. Do you follow the rules or do you do want you want? And do you think it's ok for others to break park rules just because they think they can get away with it?

The coaster season is coming to a end now so I thought this would be a good discussion to start off the cold and BORING months ahead:)

I look forward to meeting some of you next year perhaps at Cedar Point, just wished I had of moved earlier this season instead of at the end of it:(

Ryan

The unfortunate event which occured earlier this year was a smack in the face to many enthusiasts, myself included. The rules are there for everyone's safety, and if those rules are not followed then you are putting those around you, as well as yourself, in danger.

What would motivate someone to stand up on a roller coaster while in motion, I'm not sure, but it's just plain dumb.

Hello, Ryan - glad you made the move from "lurker" to "poster."

We very recently went through this discussion both here at GTTP and over at CoasterBuzz. [thread #1] [thread #2] [thread #3]. We try to limit discussion here at GTTP to Cedar Point. This type of discussion is best left to CoasterBuzz - which, if you haven't checked it out yet, is a great site for general coaster news and talk.

That said, thanks for thoughtful, well-written first post. We need more of that around here. Welcome aboard.
