ROUTE 2 McD'S

For my family, driving to CP for the past 30 years or so, has always included a stop at McDonald's (in Oregon, OH?) as soon as we got on route 2 off of 280. This fall, I noticed it was a pile of bricks! On closing weekend, I could see they were rebuilding. Does anyone know if it will still be McDonald's and is anyone from around the area to let the rest of us know how progress is coming. It's not as remarkable as it once was, but I can't remember a time I've stopped there for breakfast and not seen someone I would see later that day in the park.

I've been told by a local they are rebuilding McDonald's and it should be open again in the spring.

That is our "halfway point" and we've always stopped at that McDonalds both to and from the Point.

Yeah they tore it down about 2 months back I think. Supposedly they are making the new one two stories. Kind of Ironic, I was actually looking at it last night from the Wendy's next door.

*lives like 5 minutes away*

Too bad the new building probably won't mean better quality food and service.

On our way down second to last weekend of the season, we were going to stop for bathroom/milkshakes! It was night time and we thought we just went past it. After turning around in the Taco Bell, we were stunned to see it wasn't there. Just goes to show you can't rely on anything!

Is this the same McDonalds that supposedly bought the naming rights to TTD? Too bad, it would have been cool to ride McDonalds the ride. Maybe next one will be rumored to be Wal-Mart.(lots of sarcasm for those of you who couldn't pick that up) :) *** Edited 11/15/2004 9:22:28 PM UTC by Fastball84***

MrScott: Agreed completly.

Mickey D's needs to get it's act together. Not just at that store, but nationwide. I am disapointed most of the time I eat there (I forget how bad the last time was after several weeks, then a "food emergency" comes up and I go back).

A company with that reputation can't last much longer.

I quit eating disgusting McDonalds food a few years ago. A fast food pit stop before the amusement park, or any other place is not a very wise decision. I suggest a more healthy breakfast consisting of whole grain cereal, fresh fruit, toast, and blueberry muffins.

I actually go on my own "roller coaster diet" whenever I'm at the Point... eat little, don't feel sick on the rides. If you really need food, then obviously eat it, but my stomach is always unpredictable on roller coasters. Never actually gotten sick, but just in case, I don't fill up.

Sorry, off-topic...

When staying at Lighthouse Point, the arrival dinner is burgers on the grill the first night, a modest breakfast the next day, steaks for dinner and a modest lunch on the way out. There usually is some park food in the mix, as well.

I've had fast food maybe four or five times total in the last year. Interesting that now I never get the Hershey squirts.

I didn't say we eat there. It's mostly a bathroom/coffee stop.

McDonalds: Mild.

The Long John Silvers/Taco Bell just a few miles down the road from Cedar Point: Priceless...?

Funny though that Long John Taco's has become a mandatory place to stop by when leaving Cedar Point with my friends.

Sounds like one of those "well balanced" breakfasts you see on ceral commercials even though no one really drinks milk AND orange juice with breakfast.

Holy cow! I inquired about the building because that McDonald's has been a family tradition. I didn't mean for this to turn into a "fast-food bash." For what it's worth, I manage a fast-food restaurant, in part, because I had become disgusted with the overall experience at every major chain. I'm not sure I've made any real difference. But, I do know that, while I'm working, my customers don't have to deal with rude managment. In regards to that particular McDonald's, my only complaint about the food or service would be that they have always been on the slow side.

You consider a blueberry muffin healthy?

Large Blueberry Muffin: 465 cals. 9.1 grams of fat, 9 grams of protein.

McD's Sausage McMuffin: 370 cal. 21 grams of fat , 14 grams of protein.

I'd rather eat the Sausage McMuffin, more protein and less calories.

Blueberry muffins are okay, along with that healthy breakfast I stated with whole grain cereal, fresh fruit, and toast. ;)

That much fat content as part of that few calories is not good for you.

Okay, drop the muffins. I don't even eat them myself. Being that I run everyday, that would be easily burned off. Especially today's workout, which was 10 miles. Anyways, back to the topic. I made my opinion earlier about Mc D's. *** Edited 11/23/2004 4:02:54 AM UTC by kylepark***
