Rough Ride On The Blue Train(5-9)

I had the roughest ride of my life last night on the blue train in seat 2-2. Now don't get me wrong it was still much smoother than any other ride in the park, I was just surprised to feel so much shaky vibrations going on. Has anyone else noticed this?

Not that i could say. Usualy the blue train goes the fastest maybe it was going realy fast and was more shaky then usual.

maybe it's getting jerky just a guess
I always thought blue was the slowest, maybe not.

I noticed a decent amount of vibration and shuffling on a couple of rides today, on both the yellow and blue train. I only felt it in the middle cars, towards the back it was smooth as can be.

Fat chris, I always thought that blue was the slowest as well. Mantis man, I was sitting middle-towards-the front. Does anyone know what's going on with the red train?

Both trains seemed to be running pretty smooth to me on each of the past three days (Sat. -Mon.). The cold weather made the trains run much slower on O.D. then on Sunday or Monday. Still the best ride in the park for me!

The red train suffered some restraint failure as far as I know. Its more then likely still being rebuilt from scratch. They tear them apart during the winter and do a re-build. I think that is where the 6th TTD train is.
Well they are not going to run 6 trains on TTD until it gets warmer (probably in early june when the crowds pick up also) So I figured it wasn't on since they didn't need it right now.

I rode front seat on the blue train it was as smooth as glass to me. Maybe when I go again I'll try the second car.

The only thing I can think of would be the wind on that particular day, other than that I'm still perplexed.

Whoever told you that the red train "suffered some restraint failure" was wrong. It's amazing how quickly speculation grows out of such a simple situation.

As for the debate over which train is faster than the other, there's no real debate to be had. Each train is completely torn down during the offseason and so whichever train ran the "fastest" last year may not be the same this year. It all comes down to how they were reassembled.

It always the damn red trains. Anyway when I rode on Tuesday I noticed the shaking on the blue train. I imagine its the springs in the guide wheels.

I didn't have a problem riding the blue train. I rode in the second car the other on Tuesday and it was fine and than later in the back. It's not rough.
Thanks Dan! I was hoping for a technical explanation. Are those springs something that are regularly replaced or do they wait for the "shake" I wonder? I agree with you, it is always those damn red trains! My first ride on Magnum this season was on the devil train and I was hoping to get red on MF as well. Oh well, something to look forward to I guess, the season is still young. :)

The shaking is known as the "Intamin shuffle." Xcelerator has it. I noticed it on Millennium Force blue in the back seat last season. I'm surprised it's happening this early in the season.

1,146 rides on Raptor. Three rides in 2009.

Leave the red train alone! When it is up and running it is the best train on Millennium Force!

Ok Tony you would know. Then again I have to admit that the Devil (red) Train on Magnum has always been my favorite train. Then again its the one that causes the most problems.

If memory serves me right I think the MF shuffle began early in the 2002 season.

When i rode the b;ue train, it was very smooth. Then i rode to yellow and the red and it was very rough.
