Rougarou Trimmed

Sorry if there is a topic already for this but, had a friend at Rougarou Hullabaloo today and they said that Rougarou was trimmed on the drop today. I don't know if that means it's permanent but either way, not good.

Could you explain what you mean in lay men's terms?

^ He is saying the trim break on the first drop of Mantis was activated, which slowed the coaster down throughout the circuit. Here at Pointbuzz a trimmed drop on that coaster is no bueno.

^ Yep, as I feared, once the Rougarou fab was over, maintenance would come in and say that the costs with the trims off were too much, and thus the trim was needed, hence why it was put on back in the day.

This is completely false information. All of it.

The trim is not active. It's not even wired. It SOUNDS like it's on because the train rattles the stairs to it as it goes by, but it is NOT on.

theatc99 is correct. Tony stated at Coastermania that Rougarou's trims were actually removed and that sound you hear is the old stairway that rattles when a train goes over it.

Time to put this rumor to bed.........

Let alone the fact that when the ride was Mantis, the first drop trims were not associated with "keeping costs down" but rather actually creating a more comfortable ride experience by slowing things down a tad and keeping some of the more uncomfortable forces off riders legs. Not an issue as Rougarou. Everyone used to always complain about Mantis' trims, but I think they did wonders to keep the ride a little more comfortable. A few rides I had when they weren't active resulted in significantly increased discomfort in my legs.

Now Mean Streak's trims, yes, those are there to keep the track from tearing itself apart as quickly and will help reduce cost.

I was on Rougarou Thursday. The first drop was most definitely NOT trimmed.

I haven't been in two years, I'm excited to try Rougarou out. I hated Mantis and have seen mixed reviews on whether it's really any better.

Rode today and the trim was not on. Midcourse brakes were active which I didnt mind because it made the second half of the course very comfortable.
