Rose Stein, Cedar Point's long-time candlemaker, passed away Thursday at the age of 68. For more than 35 years, Rose was the creative force behind the Candle Shoppe on Frontier Trail. Cedar Point honored Rose in 2014 when the park renamed the shop "Rose's Candle Shoppe."
Rose was a graduate of Bellevue High School. In addition to Cedar Point, Rose also worked in the gift shop of Sorrowful Mother Shrine for 10 years. Rose was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo in Marywood and enjoyed spending her winters in Lake Placid, Florida where she was a member of St. James Parish and the choir.
She is survived by her two brothers, John J. Stein III of Flat Rock and Anthony (Ruth) Stein of Bellevue; two sisters, Mary Lou O’Brien of Flat Rock and Cecilia Strecker of Bellevue; 12 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Dennis Strecker and niece, Tamara Keller.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until a funeral Mass officiated by Father Nathan Bockrath begins at 11 a.m. at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church, 16209 County Road 46, Bellevue, Ohio 44811. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery.
