Rolling Back

Hey everyone. I'm somewhat new here - we made our first trip to CP last August all the way from eastern PA (7 hours, thank you very much). Fell in LOVE and are heading back near the end of June. Anyway, I'll tell you, I've been daydreaming about the place and just looking to talk.

Have any of you ever rolled back on TTD? I was telling my family how I would love for that to happen to me. Their eyes popped out of their heads, their jaws dropped, and they just shook their heads - "nooooo!" So funny. So if it's happened to you, tell me about it. What did it feel like? Scary? Fun?

One word its awesome. Its like you get two ride for one wait nothing beats it. The only thing I can think that would beat a rollback is getting stuck.

Ha ha - thank you! I was right. I even said I'd like to be stuck because darnit, you just never get to enjoy that view up there, do you?

Too bad they can't put a friction wheel up there that stops the train for a few seconds and then pushes it over. I would love to enjoy the view for a second, and I think that stopping would increase the excitement "Oh crap, look how far down that is!!!"

I could hardly believe it when it happened to me.

It was during Halloweekends 2006. I had not been to CP in over 5 years so TTD was new to me. Just after dark on Sat. night a small thunderstorm rolled through and I waited on the platform for over an hour for things to clear up and TTD to start running again. The first two trains made it over although barely. I was in the front row on the next train and got not just a roll-back but a double! Rolling straight down backwards from 420' makes the Power Tower seem lame. We made it over with no problem the third try. When we rolled into the unload area the fifty or so people in line went nuts like we were celebrities or something.

I got another roll-back last fall (Halloweekends again). It was just at dusk and the train before us got one. You could hear everyone saying dang! that should have been us! Then what do ya know, we got one too.

The best chances are first thing in the morning, when there is a bit of a breeze (TTD will not run if more than 35mph at the top), just after a rain, or a combination of these. Good luck and be sure to post if you succeed.

My wife and I had always wanted to get at least one roll-back but had never been so lucky. This year she was unable to come on opening day, due to being on the opposite side of the country, and I decide to go alone. The night before I sent her a text that said since she couldn't be there, I'd be getting a roll-back, maybe even 2. To make a long (7 hour wait) story short. I got a double roll-back, and a long hesitation at the top on the third launch. It really is awesome, and it was worth the wait.

i have experienced one rollback.the best part is the surprise

factor. i noticed that the first two or three rows of the 

train were lightweight people(including myself),and the

last car was all very large and heavy people.

Love them, crave them.:) I will say that if I had to choose between the feeling of getting rollbacks and the feeling of having a relationship......well you know what I'd pick.;)

And that, my friends, is Darwinism at work.

^haha thanks for that dj. I got my first 2 rollbacks last season and they were both bittersweet.

My roommate and I have yet to get one. We thought that we might have some luck last night at ERT. It was windy and cold. We got nine rides in but no rollback. Oh well, maybe later in the season.

Though I will say I can't vouch for the second feeling yet as I've yet to...well find that special someone.

Oh you haven't Adam, I'm so sorry, well not really cause I have only had one of the two also. Maybe I'm lucky I can get a rollback while with my gf.

OOOO A rollback thread! I got 1 rollback on opening day this year! :) Most of you know that on that day it had about 50 rollbacks all the way into the night, and me and my friend were having a ball in the station as everyone cheered or boooed about it making it over the top. I have waited for one for over a year and finally got one, at night better yet.
My friend got 6 rollbacks total, 5 last year and the one with me at night.
Her first 4 were from when they needed employees to ride TTD for a commerical shoot and it kept getting them. Her 5th one was from after a rainy day when she was seeing some TTD crew friends at the ride and they just opened it to ride, and got a rollback.
One train that night got a triple rollback, but one satisfied me enough! :)
